Introduction
In the group of two people, we are tasked to select a 30 x 30 site
within the campus in order to propose a study enhancement area for the
following site. First of all, we need to collect data and the characteristics
of the site by noting it down. We need to know the wind and sun
direction at the different time. Besides that, the concept of the project,
master plan, planting plan, bill of quantities and the maintenance plan
are also needed in the report.
The aim of the project is to build a study area for the student. My
teammate and I will explore the concept, site analysis, planting plan,
costing, and master plan based on the information that we collected and
we will improve the site to become more sustainable and useful.

Site analysis
The site is choose to construct a study and discussion room and we
call it “The Sagesse room”. The study room is locate at the man-made
lake beside Block E. We choose this area, it is because it is no people will
using it during recess time or free time.
The lake is measured about 5.5 acres, the 24 hours study room only
need 30m x 30m for the study room to construct. Our site will not affect
the car park, it is because we are run out of parking space in our campus.
1. Condition of the site
The condition that we choosing this site, it is because it is very quiet
and it expose to sunlight in different time. The environment is suitable
for student to study and relax and the site is open spaces. The site is
suitable to construct a study room for the student due to the good
condition-quiet.
2. Circulation
The current site has many entrance. First the staircase from block C, D
and E. The second entrance will be come from the car park. The third
entrance is come from the start of the pavement connect to
amphitheatre. The study room is easily to access from any direction.
3. Wind direction
The wind flows through the area at different direction and also
different timing. As in the morning about 10:21a.m the wind comes from
the direction of East. As in the afternoon around 12 p.m. the wind flows
from different direction which is southwest. The wind is strong.
However, when it’s in the evening like 6 – 7pm the wind get weaker.
4. Sunlight
The sun illuminate the site the whole day. The sun rises from east to
the west. In the morning the sunlight is warm and it is not as hot as
afternoon which is around 12 – 4 p.m.
5 | P a g e
6. Sound
There is quite quiet in this site. There is only minor noise comes from
the car park. Beside that there are also some noises coming from the
roads as the cars pass by anytime especially, during the evening time, all
the student and staff’s car are going home after lecture end and end of
the work time.
5. Smell
There is no smell flowing through the site.
6 | P a g e
View from the site
Panorama view
7 | P a g e
Good view from the site
From our selected site we are able to look to the commercial block
which is considered as a good view. From here we are allowed to see the
restaurant, student hostel the buildings, as well as the road from
Taylor’s University campus.
8 | P a g e
Suggestion and proposal
“The Sagesse room”, “Sagesse” the word come from French language.
The meaning of the word is wisdom or knowledge. Study room is for
student to study and discussion project even meeting can be done in this
study area so, we named the study room “The Sagesse room”.
The aim of the project is allow student or staff can study or discuss in
the room. There will be second study and discuss room in Taylor lakeside
university campus. Which located beside the library.
As I mention above, this project will be construct near the block E,
since block E have a lot of architect student or design student. It is very
convenience for the student to discuss or do their work or project, they
no need walk to the library or the 24 hour study room. They just come
down from the staircase, that all very convenience. Not only student of
architecture and design, all the student are also very convenience to
them.
9 | P a g e
Rationale and benefit
We propose this project it is because in the library we are run out of
space. So we decided to build a new study and discuss room. Beside that
the area of the campus are too big, one study room is not enough and
student study in Taylor University is increasing.
The benefit of this study and discussion room are the condition is very
quiet and very suitable for student to study and enjoy. Moreover, the
student is open for all student even staff also can have a meeting inside
it. Besides that, the study and discussion room open for 24 hours and
fully air-conditioner. In the night, we will reduce the temperature of the
air-conditioner. We use the benefit of the night into our room, it is
because in the night the temperature will drop and become cold.
Moreover, the green area will enhance the study mood to the student.

Sun blocking
The sunlight is
very hot during
afternoon the
plants and are
needed in this
area in order to
block the
sunlight
meanwhile the
flora gets to
obtain sunlight
as well.
Concept plan

everyone to walk around this
garden and the study area.
Student and staff can take a

green environment.

study area.

Concept
The aim of our project is help student to make their life in campus
more convenience. So we propose to build a study and discuss room
near the block E. Furthermore, to recreate a natural and relaxing area
with the combination of greenish environment for students and staff.
Being on the man-made lake, one of the advantages of our site is that it
has a good view to the commercial block.
After collected data from the site analysis, we take all the
advantages of the current site. For example, quiet, good view from the
lake, convenience for the student, relax area and etc. our study room
focuses on the concept of the quite. It is because that area are less
people walk by, so we propose to build a study room.
Our project for the study room, contain 8 room and 1 outdoor study
area for the student and staff. I will present to you the facilities in the
room and the activities later in the other pages.
Nowadays, the world are promoting the green building and eco-
friendly, so we decided to build a small garden outside the study room.
The aim of the garden is to let student or staff to relax and talking. The
garden is design for make people more relax and it’s also will increase
the good view of the area. There will be plenty type of plant in the small
garden. The uses of the small garden will make people more closely and
make some new friend due to the chatting at the small garden.
We proposed this site is also based on combination of greenery with
some green plant. This concept is to produce a mixture of modern style
at the same time with a greenish style. This project that we propose, the
site combine with greenish plants are to make the garden more eco-
friendly. Moreover, by using this concept, student or staff can relax in
this garden with a small green to relaxing mood. This propose site
located on the lake near the block E provides good view to the
commercial block while the green plants bring comfort to the eyes which
are also stress relieving.
