The fairy tale is usually regarded as children’s literature. It shapes the characters through rich fantasy and exaggeration. The story reflects every aspect of our life and has an educational effect on readers, especially on children. Originated from the folk lore, fairy tale is one of the most important materials for the research on local conditions and customs at that time as well as its function of moral education. However, feminists analyze it from a brand new perspective. As most of the fairy tales are written or edited during the period when men hold the leading role in society, it is unavoidable that they contain the ideology of patriarchy to some extent. The paper will focus on one classic fairy tale in The Grimm Fairy Tale -- Sleeping Beauty (Briar Rose in Grimm’s book) and try to analyze the contexts from the angle of feminism. The purpose is to reveal the patriarchy hidden behind the seemingly romantic story. What’s more, it is also helpful to put forward the depth and scope of the research of feminism to improve and develop the women’s liberation, and enrich the diversification of the methodology and perspective of research. From the angle of feminism, it can be concluded from the fairy tales that in patriarchal society, women are in the position of “the other” and totally dependent on men, mentally and financially. They have to obey the social rules set by men and meet men’s pleasure for the seemingly happy ending. There are so much left for us to accomplish in the purpose of changing this situation.

E T H I C S Feminist Reconceptualizations in Ethics VIRGINIA HELD WHEN FEMINIST perspectives are brought to bear in ethics, they may at first suggest topics overlooked or neglected by the philosophical field of inquiry known as “moral philosophy” or “ethics.” Such topics include discrimination against women and justifiable remedies, abortion and reproductive technologies and the moral problems involved, violence against women, and many others. Soon attention may be turned to the moral theory appealed to in any discussion of ethical problems. And it will be seen that moral theory, like other philosophical theory, has a long history of gender bias.1 Ethics, like most of philosophy, has been built on assumptions, and constructed with concepts, that are by no means gender-neutral. In comparison with nonfeminist approaches, feminists characteristically begin with different concerns and give different emphases to the issues we consider. The significance of shifts such as these can be great; as Lorraine Code notes, “Starting points and focal points shape the impact of theoretical discussion.”2 Far from merely providing additional insights that can be incorporated into traditional theory, feminist explorations often require radical transformations of existing fields of inquiry and theory.3 From a feminist point of view, moral theory, along with almost all theory, will have to be transformed to take adequate account of the experience of women. I will begin this essay with a brief examination of how various fundamen- tal aspects of the history of ethics have not been gender-neutral. I will discuss three issues where feminist rethinking is transforming moral concepts and theories. And I will suggest some of the profound implications such rethinking has for the transformation of society. In the republic of America, power is divided between the states and the federal government. It is then divided again among the branches of each government. Inside the crowded hangar, Elton John’s ‘‘Rocket Man’’ was playing. Red, white, and blue strobe lights roved sideways and up. Cell phones snapped photos of the blond-haired candidate as he stood before thousands waving and shaking signs that read MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. A small, wiry man bearing this sign with both hands, eyes afire, called out to all within earshot, ‘‘To be in the presence of such a man! To be in the presence of such a man.’’ There seemed in this man’s call, I wrote in my field notes—part of a five year ethnographic study of Tea Party supporters in Louisiana—a note of reverence, even ecstasy (Hochschild 2016:224). How do we understand the states of mind and situations of those to whom Donald Trump appeals? How does such emotional appeal work? Whatever Trump’s future, he has touched a cultural nerve we sociologists need to study. In this essay, I explore illuminating works in and around sociology before ven- turing an interpretation of my own. In The Paranoid Style in American Politics, the historian Richard Hofstadter (1996) traced the relationship between paranoid political rhetoric and ‘‘style of mind’’ as these periodically emerged in the United States through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The leader expressing such a style, he says, ‘‘does not see social conflict as some- thing to be mediated and compromised, in the manner of the working politician. Since what is at stake is always a conflict between absolute good and absolute evil, what is necessary is not compromise but the will to fight things out to a finish. . . . This demand for total triumph leads to the formulation of hopelessly unrealistic goals, and since these goals are not even remotely attainable, failure constantly heightens the paranoid’s sense of frustration. Even partial success leaves him with the same feeling of power- lessness with which he began, and this in turn only strengthens his awareness of the vast and terrifying quality of the enemy he opposes’’ (p. 31). Propelling such movements, he argues, is not just economic deprivation as narrowly conceived, but the loss of an older America, inward-turned, Protestant, secure, busy turning the wheel of a thriving local capital- ism. Go to: Abstract Introduction: Insulin-dependent patients are individuals with chronic disease who are well adapted to living and dealing with any health needs and fears arising. An important aspect in the process of adaptation to chronic illness is the provision of nursing care in the early stages of the disease, because this contributes to its acceptance and the early identification and management of potential complications. Purpose: To investigate the health needs and self-management problems faced by patients with diabetes daily, especially those who use insulin. Furthermore, purpose of this study was to investigate the fears experienced by patients in the early stage of the disease, but also in its subsequent development and to study possible differences between sexes. Methodology: This is a qualitative study, using interpretative phenomenological approach. Fifteen (nine women and six men) insulin-dependent patients, recounted their personal fears and their needs, through semi-structured interviews, which took place in Central Greece. The method used for processing the results is the Mayering one. Results: The analysis of the narratives showed that patients have a variety of fears and needs associated with the diagnosis, treatment, expected consequences, prognosis and everyday life in the management of the disease. Most patients express the concept of need as desire. Care needs, psychological support and education to recognize and prevent hypoglycemia. Conclusions: Insulin-dependent patients express fears and needs in their daily lives. Nurses providing care aimed at enhancing the level of health, while putting self-care information and training them. If travel mishaps are the stuff of memory, my vacation was unforgettable. And without home-sharing services like Airbnb, review sites like TripAdvisor and conveniences like Uber, OpenTable and Expedia, the trip would have been far more expensive, less accessible and, in a strange way, less authentic.
