2. INTRODUCTION
Does adding sugar to plants affect their growth?
Materials include: 4 bottles with different amounts of sugar, 4 fast plants,
and a ruler.
Watered the plants 2 oz. of water daily for 15 days.
Recorded their height every 3 days
3. RESULTS
Days 3 6 9 12 15
Plant A 1.6 cm 3.4 cm 5.0 cm 6.7 cm 8.5 cm
Plant B 1.4 cm 3.1 cm 4.6 cm 6.1 cm 7.8 cm
Plant C 1.3 cm 2.9 cm 4.4 cm 5.8 cm 7.2 cm
Plant D 1.0 cm 2.2 cm 3.5 cm 4. 9 cm 6.4 cm
Plant A: Water
Plant B:Water +2 teaspoons of sugar
Plant C:Water +4 teaspoons of sugar
Plant D:Water +6 teaspoons of sugar
4. CONCLUSION
Sugar reduces the growth of fast plants.
As more sugar was added, the plants grew less.
Sugar may affect the ability of plants to absorb water through the soil.
5. FURTHER RESEARCH
Reduce human error
Longer period of time
Higher concentrations of sugar
More controlled environment
