2. In line with the National Reading Month, the English Club conducted activities in fulfillment of the
said celebration. During the week-long commemmoration, English Club laid out activities fit for a week.
The Reading Month kicked off with a Literary Quiz Elimination. In the elimination 10 students each
year were chosen as part of the contest proper which was held on Thursday; December 4, 2014.
On the second day, an essay writing and short story writing competition was held in the school’s
mess hall. Representatives from each year participated in the two contests. Both challenges were
proven difficult to succeed in, since all were putting their ten on the high card.
A busy Wednesday afternoon greeted the storytellers as they readied their presentation. A total of 6
pairs rivaled for acme. But in the end the flawless and engaging peformance of 9th
graders; Phillip
Hernandez and Monica Endaya, seized the spotlight—securing 1st
prize.
The scholars once again proved their wit and flaunted their literary prowess as they vied for the top
three positions in the Literary Quiz Bee. All 10 teams had aces up their sleeves; some got impatient and
drew theirs at the wrong timing. This proved to be very fatal for they ultimately lost chances of being
the lucky one. Meanwhile, the few others who waited patiently for the kill, had victory for dinner.
Truly, this week has been a very demanding and hectic one for all. But, it undeniably brought smiles
to their faces and bits of information in their brains. As the old adage goes,” A minute's success pays the
failure of years.”
3. Contestants listen attentively as the English Club president, Heniely Chua, reads put
the questions for the Literary Quiz, held on Thursday; December 4.
