Kashmiri Dress
• Most Kashmiri women wear silver
chains with heavy pendants with
intricate work done on them. They wear
heavy silver earnings.
• There are two styles of making tea in
the region: Noon Chai, or salt tea,
which is pink in color (known as chine
posh rang or peach flower color) and
popular with locals; and kahwah, a tea
for festive occasions, made with
saffron and spices (cardamom,
cinnamon, sugar, noon chai leaves),
and black tea.
DRESSES OF HIMACHAL PRADESH
• Men - Dhoti, kurta, coat, waistcoat, turban (or cap), a hand towel upon
the shoulders churidar pyjamas, a long coat, a starched turban with a
special crown, pointed shoes, a flourishing pair of moustaches and a
frown upon their foreheads.
• Women - kurtas, salwars, long skirts (ghaghri), embroidered tops
(choli) and red head scarves (rahide) with gold edgings.
• Women’s Dresses:
• The women dress in
either sarees or ghaghra
cholis. However in the
rural nooks of the state
the women are still
given to wearing long or
short flowing and frilly
skirts. Ghagras for daily
use and Lehengas for
more formal occasions
are the norm. These are
matched with blouses
such as Kanchli or
Kunchuki or Choli
depending on the
blouse length.
Men’s Attire:
Banda, Bugatari, Pachewara
and Khol form the traditional
costume of the rural men. A
dhoti is a long white cloth
skilfully worn around the waist
and draped to form gracefully
loose breeches. An Angrakhi or
a Jhari is a jacket like garment
worn to cover the upper body.
The Angrakhi may be short
frock styled known as ‘kamari
angarakha’ or long knee length
garments. The headgears of
men are special and
spectacular. The Pagri is the
most famous among these

• Main Female Attire: Chaniyo & Choli.
• Ornaments Worn By: Both Men And
Women.

along with a shirt and Angavastra
Dresses of West Bengal
• The women of West Bengal
prefer to adorn themselves
with a variety of colourful
sarees, which they wear in a
characteristically Bengali
fashion. Both silk and cotton
sarees are very much popular
in West Bengal.
The traditional
l costumes for the men of West
Bengal are dhoti and Kurta
