1. Persuasive Essay Deadlines
Mrs. Czyz World Literature CCP Period 3
Assignment/Goal: You need to choose a topic that is arguable, and write an essay
in which your goal is to get the reader to agree with you.
Competency #2: Students will demonstrate the ability to identify and effectively
use the elements of persuasive writing: emotional and logical appeals,
argumentation and counter-argumentation.
Deadlines:
o Tuesday 11/27/12 – “How to” and topic Choice
o By Wednesday 11/28/12 (at the start of class – before you begin
researching) you should have your topic chosen and approved.
o Wednesday11/28/12 – in the Writing Lab researching
o Thursday11/29/12 – in Library Computer Lab researching
o By Friday 11/30/12 you should have found all the research you will be
using (both FOR and AGAINST your topic). You should have it with you in
class to read through and highlight.
o By the end of class on Tuesday 12/4/12 you should be done with your
outline. You have the entire class on Monday and Tuesday to outline. I will
check them in class to see that they are complete.
o On Wednesday 12/5/12Begin your rough draft in the library computer lab.
o On Thursday 12/6/12 we will be in the classroom (600) to Peer Edit.
o On Friday 12/7/12 - Library computer lab to finish your rough draft.
o After rough drafting, I will conference with students individually. Your final
draft due date will be set individually based on when you conference with
me.
o Good Luck! Remember that Mr. Galvin is in the writing lab for extra
assistance as well. He is there every day during school hours and after
school on Wednesdays and Thursdays. 
