1. Why do I bother getting
out of bed in the morning
to do my job?
2. Almost all of my favourite memories are from the times spent on Holiday.
My earliest holiday memory was a family camping trip to France. I remember
sleeping on the floor of our Citroen 2CV as we travelled down to the south. The
amazing feeling of happiness, being with Mum, Dad and Sister and the excitement
of what the holiday would bring are so easy to remember when I think back to it.
3. A few years later my family and two friends took a camping trip to Somerset. We
visited Brean Sands for the day and I remember laughing so much as we threw big
handfuls of the sticky low tide mud at each other. Laughter turned to tears as we
realised there was nowhere to be able to wash it off. Still brings a massive smile to
my face when I think back to that day.
4. When I was old enough to go camping without my Parents . My friends and I had
an incredible trip to Croyde in North Devon. Cooking bacon sarnies in the morning
to cure our Cider hangovers before jumping in the sea for all day surfs in the
sunshine. Hanging out with my best buddies as the sun went down, feeling
overwhelmingly satisfied and surfed out, still etched in my mind.
5. I was lucky enough to spend some of my late teens in Australia where I sold a few surf
trips up the East Coast to Backpackers. We would camp out in the forest by the beach,
drinking beers and sharing stories with our new friends after a day of surfing fantastic
waves. Such a magical time with an unforgettable feeling of freedom and adventure.
6. When I ‘grew up’, camping trips to Cornwall were frequent but none more legendary
than my Stag Do. Memories of this are somewhat patchy due to alcohol consumption
but there was a remarkable feeling of Brotherhood over that weekend and spending
time with an exceptional group of friends was a true blessing.
7. Now as a parent with responsibilities, I have the pleasure of taking my son
Reggie on camping trips. Almost every weekend that I ask him what he wants to
do, he will say ‘Camping in Cornwall’. The feeling of joy I get knowing he will
remember these trips for the rest of his life means absolutely everything to me.
8. It’s these cherished memories I have, that makes me love what I do.
In some way, being a part of a great memory a person has, even if I don’t
know them, is a pretty cool feeling.
So, the reason why I get up in the morning to do my job?
To inspire, support and develop people so that they can be their best and
create awesome memories for themselves and others.
