Name of Product: 3 Mobile “Pony”
Advert Details (what happens?):
The advert starts by the camera slowly panning over the ocean in the northern Scottish outpost of the
Shetlands with lens flares across the screen until it reaches ‘Socks’ the star Shetland pony. There’s a
close up of the horses face as it is still, the horse turns and starts to move in time with the music as it
starts. He pauses to flick his movie star style hair as the song says “I don’t know what to say”. The
horse changes its tempo and ‘claps’ his hooves on the floor in time with the “or even shout” lyric. 26
seconds into the advert is where Socks starts moonwalking in time to Fleetwood Mac until he reaches
the edge of a cliff where the horse changes direction. At 40 seconds the horse grins at the camera as he
moonwalks past and shortly after a farmer on a tractor drives past and the horse temporarily stops
dancing and resumes its routine after. Socks passes the seals on the rocks by the sea and “Silly stuff. It

Aimed at anyone wanting to purchase the services that 3 mobile offer, such as mobile service coverage.
The more specific audience is a younger, more fun generation who use social media; this is show
through the hashtag at the end of the advert. The advert is also suitable for the parents of the potential
customers through the song choice (Fleetwood Mac) so they will remember the company through the
iconic song and the now famous dancing pony.
The message of the advert is to not take things to seriously and to have fun, this helps 3 mobile to get a
fun brand image and hopefully people would buy their products because of this.
