Harold Crichton was his stage name as an actor as he followed his
older sister Blandina’s footsteps into acting in 1877.
After acting and writing failed he was employed as a school teacher
and a solicitor's clerk.
His writing career began in 1886, as he began his collection on humor
essays ‘Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow.’
During World War I he offer to volunteer but was rejected for being
too old, at age of 56.

from his honeymoon on a
boat in river Thames. With
this publication, boat sales
went up fifty percent.
Jerome’s writing style
influenced other

Times in 1926.

stroke and a
cerebral hemorrage
at 68 years old on
June 14, 1927 in
Northampton,
England. He was
cremated and his
ashes were buried at
St Mary's Church in
Oxfordshire. His
second wife’s reamins
join him now, who
died eleven years
following him.
