2. A study conducted by researchers for the esteemed University of
Oklahoma Health Science Center has provided results that show
remarkable and fascinating findings that deal with the use of e-
Cigarettes. The study shows that out of 1,300 subject, who were all
college students, that was exposed to nicotine by means of an e-
Cigarettes, only 1 subject went on to transition to smoke traditional
tobacco cigarettes.
3. E-Cigarettes do not appear to be the leading reason that entices people,
teens in particular, to develop the habit of smoking tobacco. Though
United States’ Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP)
warned the public that vaping or inhaling nicotine vapors from e-
Cigarettes and Vaporizer Pens like Yocan Exgo, might be a
dangerous activity that could lead to the habit of tobacco smoking.
4. The number of children from grades 6 through 12 who openly admits that
they have experience or tried using e-Cigarettes has increased in a
matter of years since its inception, rising from 3.3% to 6.8% between
2011 and 2012. Amongst the 2.1% of the respondents, who claims
they were e-Cigarette users, there were more than three-quarters of
the respondents that claimed they were also smoking traditional
tobacco cigarettes.
5. With such overlap, many prominent health experts are worried that the
use of e-Cigarettes might actually be acting somewhat like a gateway
drug, which sucks children deeply further into nicotine addiction.
Convincing the law officials to urge the United States Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) to impose strict regulations on e-Cigarettes and
classify them as tobacco products.
6. However, the result of the new study contradicts this claim. Researchers
surveyed a total of 1,300 college student subjects, with the average
age of the 19, about their tobacco and nicotine use. Inquiring about
their first experience or exposure to the substance, as well as their
feedback about their current experience using tobacco is like. Out of
all, 43 subjects stated that their initial nicotine exposure was the use of
an e-Cigarette. Of that same group, only 1 subject stated that he
transitioned to smoking regular tobacco cigarettes. And the vast
majority of the subjects claimed who started using e-Cigarettes were
not currently using any nicotine or tobacco products.
7. The issue of whether or not e-Cigarettes serve as a gateway for the
youth to start smoking tobacco, leading to nicotine addiction is a very
serious thing. It should never be taken lightly or dismissed like a
passing fad. If these products really does lead to the increase the
number of youth nicotine addiction, this would greatly offset e-
Cigarettes claimed health benefits.
