Bauhinia blakeana or Hong Kong Orchid Tree
Bauhinia blakeana was adopted as the floral
emblem of Hong Kong by the Urban Council in
1965. Since 1997 the flower appears on Hong
Kong’s coat of arm, its flag and its coins.
Blooming and Transformation
Blooming
• A process of growth occurring in
living organisms
• The opening of flowers in general; the
state of blossoming; A state or time of
beauty, freshness, and vigour
• An opening to higher perfection
Transformation
• A thorough or dramatic change in form
or appearance
• A metamorphosis during a life cycle
• The induced or spontaneous change of
one element into another
• A qualitative change
The proposed event logo is a “Final Stage of
Transformation” - It is the flower in full bloom,
achieved with the metamorphosis of different
stages. This event logo is a combination of
traditional and modern aspects. The shape is
inspired by a Chinese lantern and the national
flower, yet aesthetically catering to digital
attributes of the industry.

The 5 Human Senses
The sense organs — eyes, ears, tongue, skin,
and nose — help to protect the body.
The human sense organs contain receptors that
relay information through sensory neurons to the
appropriate places within the nervous system.
Each sense organ contains different receptors.
Powerful digital media exhibitions are able to
engage humans naturally through their senses by
allowing space for interactively between them,
the products and the environment. This concept
therefore focuses on the three senses, sight,
hearing and touch.
SENSE THE TRANSFORMATION
The main visual identity is a straightforward
representation of the three main human senses
associated with digital media.
The combined visual depicts the multi-sensory
experiences that one can expect in SIGGRAPH
ASIA 2013. Be amazed with the visual excitement,
auditory effects and interactive moments as you
take the exhilarating tour through this event that
actively engages your senses.

The Vitruvian Man
Le proporzioni del corpo umano secondo Vitruvio,
is a drawing created by Leonardo Da Vinci based
on the correlations of ideal human proportions
with geometry described by the ancient Roman
architect Vitruvius.
Much in similarity to my LIFE INC’s core mission
of offering exclusive brands curated from around
the world, providing the body with the ideal mix
of healthy and fun products that are meaningful,
functional and convenient, the Vitruvian Man is a
representative icon which is thus incorporated as
a design element.
The circular shape of the logo depicts the 360
approach where my LIFE INC promote wellness
in every degree of life while the colours and font
choice present the fun-loving brand personality and
attitude which address the target audience directly.

The logo is a simple illustration of tea leaves which
evolve in a full blossom of life, a result of the wide
range of health benefits provided by the products
and enjoyed.
The circle represents wholeness, focus, unity and
completeness while the transparency presents
depth to the logo. The brand logo is intentionally
created in monochrome while each product flavour
adopts a colour of its own for ease of consumer
identification during the buying process.

The logogram is derived from the letters ‘V’
and ‘S’, forming an elegant shape that bears
resemblance to a keyhole. It is simple, yet
conveys the idea of home and security, in style.
The serifed typeface is emits traditional luxury,
and adds to the overall sense of stability and
security of this identity.
The proposed colour scheme for this identity
is warm earth tones with a slight tint of plum
purple, combined with a light turquoise. The
earth tone exudes comfort, while purple implies
sophistication, and the bright splash of blue adds
a modern touch.

SIGGRAPH ASIA 2014
The Red Flower
The red flower logo pays tribute to the host nation
where SIGGRAPPH ASIA 2014 is held.
Bearing the national colour of China, red is a
powerful colour that represents passion, joy and
luck, attributes that are possessed by many of the
industry peers.
The seven petals represent the seven years of
dedication to the event.
The Hummingbird
SIGGRAPH
ASIA 2 14
SHENZ HEN
The hummingbird is a wonder of nature’s world.
In its small body lies the strength to be able to
adapt rapidly to the fast changing environmental
landscape. Flapping its wings at 720 – 4800 times
per second, it allows the bird to hover in mid-air.
It is also the only group of bird that possess the
ability to fly backwards.
The hummingbird is a perfect symbol of
strength and perseverance, flexibility and speed;
symbolic of the relentless pursuit of innovation
and breakthroughs made possible by every little
effort contributed in this fast-paced industry that
SIGGRAPH ASIA represents.

Breaking FreeSIGGRAPH ASIA and Hummingird
SIGGRAPH brings to light new waves in technology and
sources of inspiration. It is a platform for professionals
and aspiring individuals to share ideas, inspirations and
overcome the seemingly impossible.
The characteristics of this colourful bird draws parallel
with the SIGGRAPH ASIA conference; the hummingbird
represents the swiftness and speed of technology as an
ever-changing part of the creative future.
As a symbolic representation of technology, it shows
speed, resilience, playfulness as well as innovation
and uniqueness.
BIG ideas start small
The hummingbird is one of the smallest birds, yet
it holds some of the most unique characteristics.
Its ability to fly backwards and flap their wings
12-80 times per second shows their strength and
swiftness.
“Big ideas start small” is the potential to reach
the greatest idea by harvesting a small idea, not
matter how small or seemingly insignificant at first.
Through combining talents, ideas and inspiration,
SIGGRAPH ASIA has the ability to lead change,
harvest the greatest of ideas and transform
the future.
The graphic identity sequence represents
SIGGRAPH ASIA emerging from the global
market as a fresh and powerful figure.
The change of colours as the bird breaks through
the shell shows SIGGRAPH’S aspiration to change
and break boundaries. A bird in flight shows
a move towards new frontiers and the endless
possibilities of its journey.
The final stage of the sequence is a
representation of the new “golden age” of
technology and design, moving away from
the norm and leading to new frontiers.
