Triduo per il 140° della prima Spedizione Missionaria_eng
1. TRIDUUM IN PREPARATION
FOR THE CELEBRAZIONE OF THE 140TH
ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST MISSIONARY
EXPEDITION
Day 1 – 11 November 2017
Before singing or praying the Magnificat during Vespers
Guide: “Through a gift of the Holy Spirit and with the
direct intervention of Mary, St. John Bosco founded our
Institute as a response of salvation to the profound hopes
of girls and young women […] and imparted to it a strong
missionary characteristic” (C 1).
On this first day of the Triduum in preparation for the
celebration of the 140th
anniversary of the first Missionary
Expedition, we thank God through the intercession of
Mary Help of Christians, for the missionary identity of our
Institute.
2. Day 2– 12 November 2017
Before singing or praying the Magnificat during Vespers
Guide: “The ‘da mihi animas cetera tolle’ […] is the heart
of our educational mission. […] Striving to keep alive the
missionary fervor of our origins, let us work for the
spreading of God’s Kingdom in Christian countries, in
those not yet evangelized, and in those in need of re-
evangelization; paying particular attention to the needs of
the times and the needs of the local Church” (C 6).
On this second day of the Triduum in preparation for the
celebration of the 140th
anniversary of the first Missionary
Expedition, we thank God through the intercession of
Mary Help of Christians, for the courage and decision to
leave of our first missionary ad gentes sisters: Sr. Angela
Vallese, Sr. Giovanna Borgna, Sr. Angela Cassulo, Sr.
Teresa Gedda, Sr. Angela Denegri, and Sr. Teresina
Mazzarello.
Let us thank God because with their missionary life, they
brought the spirit of Mornese across the ocean.
3. Day 3 – 13 November 2017
* Monthly remembrance of St. Mary D. Mazzarello
Before singing or praying the Magnificat during Vespers
Guide: “Let each community keep alive its missionary
spirit for a constant renewal of apostolic fervor. To make
our young people aware of the need to build God’s
Kingdom, and to open their hearts to the real needs of their
sisters and brothers, we shall cooperate in the various
missionary initiatives of the local Church and promote
those proper to Salesian tradition” (R 69).
On this the third day of the Triduum in preparation of the
140th
anniversary of the First Missionary Expedition, we
thank God through the intercession of Mary Help of
Christians, for the life and vocation of all the FMA
missionaries ad gentes, both past and present. We thank
God because still today, He arouses in the Institute, FMA
who are generous, able to leave with the same apostolic
daring of the first sisters, capable of going to the mission
ad gentes. Like Mary, we want to broaden our vision and
quicken our steps, to be with the young missionaries of
hope and of joy!
Happy celebration!
We are all ready to leave with the
GREAT MISSIONARY EXPEDITION…
