2. SAGRADA FAMILIA
The “Sagrada Familia” is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona,
designed by Catalan Spanish architect Antonio Gaudí. It is now a part of
the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in November 2010 Pope Benedict
XVI consecrated and proclaimed it a minor basilica. Its construction
started in 1882, but for the time of the death of Gaudí, only a quarter
of it was finished. Its construction continued until it was stopped by the
Spanish Civil War. It is not finished yet, but it is estimated that it will
be completed by the year 2026.
