Tan-Tan in southwest Morocco
is an annual gathering of
nomadic peoples of the
Sahara, that brings together
more than thirty tribes from
southern Morocco and other
parts of northwest Africa.
This particular gathering was
first held in 1963.
Mohamed Laghdaf, a Saharawi
leader who fought against the
French and Spanish colonizers
for decades, died in 1960 and
was buried near Tan-Tan.
