STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
 We consider that students of level 2 at Alianza Social
Educativa are bored of classical activities in which they are
not enjoying their learning process. That’s why we decided
to create a didactic material in which students will have
the opportunity to learn through the game, the
competence, activities that promote the development of
their four skills as speaking, listening, writing, and
reading.
 Our research question is: what kind of material can
help students to use and express ideas in present
progressive tense in communicative context?
 The idea is to involve students in a funny context, without
obligations or impositions in which they are learned
through the game and they are not really noticing.

1. MATERIALS DESCRIPTION
INSTRUCTIONS
CONTROLLED MATERIAL
a. Answer the question using present
progressive.
What are they doing? What is she doing?
(to eat) (to shop)
 _______________ ____________________
B. PUT THE VERB INTO THE
CORRECT FORM.
 Please be quiet. I ________________________ (try) to concentrate.

 Look! It _________________________ (snow).
c. Create your own story.
Use the following words.
 * parking the car * getting some Money * doing the Shopping *
buying tickets * buying clothes * studying * playing * eating.

4. ENGLISH PLAYING CARDS
 INSTRUCTIONS
• Organize groups (maximum four groups) each
group can have from two to four people.
• In a group somebody throw the dice, Each die has
the following characters and meanings:
  A. First Die:
1. – (negative sign): Do a negative sentence
2. + (Positive sign) Do an affirmative sentence
3. ? (mark question) Do an interrogative
sentence,
B. Second Die:
I, She/He, It, You, They and we
The same person who threw the dice takes a
card and must do a sentence with that verb,
using the pronouns and the way of the
sentences that the dice say.
 Example:
Then, the correct answer
could be: “Mary is watching
her favorite movie” (Positive
sentence, pronoun she with
the verb watch.)
4. RULES
 If the person does the sentences in a good way
she or he wins the card and continue the other
person.
 If the person doesn’t do the sentence or have a
mistake she/he has to leave the card on the table
and continue other person.
 When the cards are over, the winner will be who
has more cards.
 If there is a tie they could play with the cards
until some of them win.
 When somebody takes the joker, she/he doesn’t
have to do any sentence, but it counts as one.
5. LET’S HAVE FUN RIGHT NOW!
INSTRUCTIONS

appropriate draw and writing in an additional

 Is this chubby guy playing the guitar?
 Is he analyzing the fingerprints?
 Using other pictures and make a story up about what
they are doing, use the present progressive.
CONCLUSIONS
 We realized that students enjoy the class when they
are being part of the process and the activities.
 We as teachers have to take into account what
happens in our classroom, all students have different
ways to learn.
 we realized that teacher’s job is a commitment with
students and with the educational establishment.
 When we teachers plan the classes and we are
organized, the results can be better; in the way
students develop their skills as a process, starting
from the “simple” (control activities) to the more
structured (no control activities).
