3. HISTORY
The Tam-Tam belongs to the
oldest Chinese instruments. In
Chinese history, it’s mentioned
around 500 a.C.
In Occident, was employed
firstly in France in 1791 by
François-Joseph Gossec.
4. CHARACTERISTICS
It is a percussion instrument,
consisting of a flat circular metal
plate of various alloys, usually
bronze. It has a little elevation in
the centre, which is the origin
point of the sound. It has a lot of
dynamics: from a pianissimo to a
fortissimo. When you hit it, it
emits an indeterminated sound.
5. HOW TO PLAY IT
It lasts some tenths in emit the sound so the
percussionist has to advance the hit.
When the percussionist wants to turn off the
sound, he has to do it with the hands or hugging it.
It can be played with one or two maces.
