Improving human capital index through healthy childhood development
1. The approach to the humancapital index asan engine forthe improvementof the qualityof life
for societiesinall countriesof the worldisa watershedsince itmakesmore thanevidentthe
imperative needof governmentstoinvestinchildhoodasa triggerfor Productionof a country.
In mycommunitythere isnogenuine concerninthe political discourse tofindlastingsolutionsto
improve the qualityof life of citizensandmake themmore productive.
Healthyenvironmentsforchildrenare notadequate since Mexicoisthe world'sfirstplace in
childhoodobesityandmessagesatthe advertisinglevel andatthe governance leveldonot
promote healthylifestyles.There are verypoorregulationsforcompaniestolimittheiradvertising
supplyforthe acquisitionof foodwithverylittlenutritionalvalue.
Alongwiththat,the poor involvementof familiesinthe self-care of theirhealth,(manifestedbya
highrate of heart disease andnoncommunicablediseasessuchasdiabetesmellitusand
hypertension) preventschildhoodfromhavingahealthydietthatpromotesbetterhabitsforits
properdevelopment.
In relationtolearning, childrenare carryingcurriculathatdo notpromote meaningful learning,at
the outset, the educational systemisimmersedinapolitical struggle togenerate greater
satisfactionsforthose whomake upthe national educationsystem.Thisgeneratesmultiple
impactson the developmentof the programssince there are national andlocal strikesincertain
states,especiallyinthe southernpartof the country,therebyimpactingthe continuityof
educationininfants.Currently, evaluationsof thiseducational systempromote more the memory
of informationratherthanpromotingskillssuchascritical thinking.Multiplevoicesstate thatthe
generationof acritical societydoesnotsuitthe national political system.Thisinsocial discourse
generatesasocial masswhose interestissubjecttothe strategiesof those whoholdpolitical
power.
AlthoughstatisticallyinMexicoithasshowna slow improvementfrom2015 to 2017 towards
unity, there are huge inequitiesinthe regionsof the country;Evenso, inmy community, there are
still beltsof miserywithchildrenwhoare impactedbypooraccessto adequate nutritionandlack
of accessto educational opportunities.
2. In mystate,according to Ensat2012, a documentthatexploresthe developmentinhealthand
nutritionof the state,we findthatunlike whatisexpectedaccordingtothe humancapital index
for Mexicoinrelationtothe expected yearsof schooling,whichis12.6 yearsfor Mexico, inmy
communitythere are 9.2 years, there isa deficitof 3 yearslessexpectedschooling.
It isstrikingthataccess to educationforchildrenunder6yearsof age is notexplored.Forthe year
2012, 28.4% of the populationlivedinpoverty,with12.9% of people lackingdue toeducational
lag and44% lackingsocial security.
For our community, itisimportantthatthe true concernsof the state be shownto improve social
welfare guaranteesforthe vulnerable populationsuchasthe childrenthatmake up our society.
It isimportant, then, thatregulationsbe initiatedbythe state inthe fieldof companiesthatforce
themto promote healthylifestyles, onthe one hand, sothat there isa true social responsibility
that impactsthe developmentof healthychildhood.Inthe same waythe state increase taxesin
relationtocompaniesthatsell foodswithhighcaloriccontentandthatdo notcontribute to
nutrition, since itshighimpactonhealthhasbeendemonstrated.A lotof workmustbe done on
accessibilitytoeducation,especiallyinearlychildhoodtoensure healthydevelopmentfrom0to 5
years. The promotionof breastfeedingisessential inthe firstmonthsof life sothatthe childhasa
correct nutritional andaffective development, companiesmustgive the necessarytime for
workingmotherstoprovide breastfeedinginadditiontoawhole promotioninmeanstopromote
it since the wayinwhichlife isinterpretedinthe new generationsmakesitincreasinglyconsidered
that breastfeedingshouldbe replacedbymilkformulas.
In education, the state mustgenerate more andmore opportunitiesforstudentaccessand
permanence inthe educationalprocess,especiallybyprovidingcontentthatfavorsmeaningful
learning,promotesproblemsolvingandcritical thinkingof students.
On the otherhand,a lotof work mustbe done on healthylifestyles, since althoughthe human
capital index forMexicosaysthat althoughthe adultsurvival rate is0.89, the qualityof life with
whichindividualscome to60 yearsis verydamagedbythe impact of chronic diseasessuchas
diabetesmellitusandhypertension,thesedeterminantsdetermine thatthere isnonetconcernto
improve the livesof infantsineachof the homes.
The actionsof the state to guarantee healthychildhoodandmaintainitovertime upto15 years
will be decisivetoachieve sustainable improvementinthe humancapital index overtime; This
commitmentof the state, togetherwiththe participationof societyin the monitoringof
vulnerable groupsandthe commitmenttohealthcare,will setatrendinour communityinthe
comingyears.
