Diabetes Statistics <ul><li>23.6 million Americans have diabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>57 million Americans have pre-diabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>90%-95% have type 2 diabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>5.2 million people are estimated to be undiagnosed with diabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>The national cost of diabetes in the U.S. in 2007 exceeds $174 billion. </li></ul><ul><li>Diabetes is the 7 th deadliest disease in the U.S. </li></ul><ul><li>Since 1987 the death rate from diabetes has increased by 45%. </li></ul>

Type 1 Diabetes Statistics <ul><li>1 in every 400-600 children and youth (<20 years old) have type 1 diabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>   </li></ul><ul><li>340,000 people in USA have type 1 diabetes: 1 in 800 or 0.12% of the population. </li></ul><ul><li>30,000 annual cases in the USA; approximately 40 per 10,000 children are diagnosed with type 1 annually.  </li></ul>

Community Service and Fund-Raising at School <ul><li>School fund-raising should be a legitimate benefit to your students. </li></ul><ul><li>A school fund-raiser should provide an educational experience that will justify participation and support for the school sponsored activity. </li></ul><ul><li>A school fund-raiser should provide goal oriented community service hours. </li></ul>
