1. Formative Assessment Strategies
Selling Your Element
After students pick an element of interest to them they will spend 2 to
3 days in the library doing research on their element. While I provide some
guiding questions I am really hoping they find some new angle that interests
them about their element. They will do research in books and on-line.
Day 3 or 4 will be spent in the computer lab where students can begin
to work on their presentation. They will plan their power point slides or
format their pamphlet or work on story boarding and scripting their video.
This will offer me the chance to work with students whose computer skills
or access to computers is limited. Students will be presented with the scoring
rubric so that when they plan their project they are aware of all the necessary
components of their power point project or brochure or video.
In addition to helping with basic content and formatting of their
project students will be encouraged to add appropriate animations and
graphics. It will also allow me to reinforce the focus of the project which is
to find interesting information about their element to encourage their
classmates to want to buy it.
