• All but a few minutes of the hostages being
held took place under President Carter’s
watch; four minutes after President Reagan
was sworn in the hostages were released
4. Affect on The United States
• Widespread disapproval of President Carter
and any relations with the Middle-East
became prevalent during the Iranian Hostage
Crisis
• It took the US from being a nation of
gunslingers ready to pick a fight with anyone
to one that took more time in planning an
effective way to deal with the situation and
risk as few American lives as possible
