How California Relied on Mexican Labor in "A Day Without a Mexican
1. A Day Without A Mexican
In the video all the Mexicans disappeared and left California. The residents of California
quickly realized how much work the Mexicans contributed to the state. They deal with the farms,
cleaning houses and do other jobs that no one else would be willing or even wanting to do. The
movie talked about how illegal immigrants are what helps our society function and without them
some businesses and places would be in deep trouble. But it also shows how there are people
who don’t want to have illegal immigrants in the US while others want and rely on them to help
them for cheap labor.
In order to help fix the illegal immigration problem I would make it so the illegals would
fill out papers to get into the US. Then the government would go through the applications and do
background checks on the people to make sure that the people have a non-criminal record. After
having a background check along with a non-criminal record they would decide if they would be
a good fit into the community. If they are in the poor class in Mexico reject them. But if they are
middle class and higher than let them become a citizen.
