3. Independent analysis of our
green credentials
To ensure that our products are
as eco-friendly as possible we
commissioned the experts at
the University Of East Anglia
(UEA) Low Carbon Innovation
Centre.
They completed an extensive
Carbon footprint assessment
on our eco packaging products
which we’ve made available to
be downloaded.
5. What environmental impact does
our packaging have?
The overall goal of this lifecycle
assessment is to produce a preliminary
estimate of the global warming impact of
the maize based packaging filler product.
Also another reason for carrying out this
assessment is to help the client (Leavs
Ltd) understand which processes may
cause relatively greater emissions in order
to improve the performance of the final
product.
9. The drying process
The drying process could be the most significant contributor of
greenhouse gas emissions to the production of this product.
Improvements in crop drying fuel efficiency, using non-fossil fuel
heat sources or waste
heat would significantly
benefit the production
emissions of Popfil and
Leafill.
11. So What’s the final Carbon footprint?
The estimated carbon footprint of the blended packing filler is 18.7
kg CO2 equivalent per m3
The results are also
broken down into
emissions each
step of product
production.
