This magazine advert is really effective, it is advertising the band ‘Plan B’ and their new album out, I think the dark colours make this ad really stand out, the red font against the black background is really effective and the theme of the stage and then the single man sitting alone on the stage gives a lonely feel to it, which could signify what the album is all about. The red font also suggests power and danger to other artists.

3. This magazine ad is of the artist ‘ Marina & the diamonds’, and is promoting her new single out. I think this is again effective as it has a close up of just the artists head, which us as audience automatically know its the singer and she is looking at the camera with her lips parted which could also be selling the album through her looks and ‘sexual’ gestures females are typically associated with being (Goodwin). The background of a wallpaper of flowers is pretty and gives a very feminine feel to the advertisement.

4. This magazine ad for ‘Devo’ is quite simple yet effective, it has the band name in big bold letters, which stand out in blue against the white background, and the name of the album ‘ something for everybody’ which then relates t the picture next to it of a woman with her eyes shut and lips parted, again using females as a sexual reference, holding something to her mouth, its quite humorous and can also represent the bands sense of music.
