What is
VEDIC?
By Team VEDIC
In the
recent years the
freedom resulting
from the living
away from the
parents,
mechanistic world
view devoid of
values, ethics,
morals or purpose
and the free mixing
in the campus
combine to propel
the students into
the life of
sensuality and sin.
When they graduate,
they carry along
with the degree, a
disdain for
virtuous living, an
infatuation with
the materialism and
a host of vices of
unhealthy eating
habits, smoking,
alcoholism,
gambling and even
drug addiction.
The education
and the culture
Rekindling wisdom
and Reviving Love
“Universities are turning
out highly skilled
barbarians becausewe do
not provide framework of
values tothe young people,
whomore and more are
searchingfor it”
- SteveMuller, President,
John HopkinUniversity
“The firstduty of the
University is to teach
wisdom, nottrade, not
technicalities.”
- WinstonChurchill

that is offered by
VEDIC is non-
sectarian and is
meant for the
people of any
religion, cast,
creed or
nationality. It is
easy to understand
and practical to
apply wisdom. It
teaches us
practical and
proven knowledge
that has touched
and transformed the
lives of thousands
of Youth.
Intellectual
education effects
the Head and Value
based education
influences the
Heart. In fact the
education that does
not train our heart
can be dangerous.
If we want to build
the character in
the offices, homes
and society then we
must have the
wisdom to live a
principle –
centered life based
on the values like
honesty,
compassion,
courage,
responsibility etc.
Also it is well
known that in an
insecure
environment where
people do not feel
protected and loved
the susceptibility
to the chronic
diseases is many
times higher.
Community security,
protection, are and
concern for one
another are
possible only when
people learn to
live a selfless
life centered on
the supreme truth.
Thus the goal of
VEDIC is to
rekindle the innate
wisdom about the
purpose of life and
lead the youth to
live a selfless
life.
Why we
want
VEDIC in
NIT
Patna?
"We have
controlled machines
and uncontrolled
men," declares a
slogan depicting the
potential threat of
global disaster due to
the misuse of
technology. It catches
the tragic irony of
modern society. The
last century has seen
amazing
advances in science
and technology, by
“Anyone can give up, it’s
the easiest thing in the
world to do. But to hold
it together when
everyone else would
understand if you fell
apart, that’s true
strength.”
— Thomas Jefferson
Intelligence plus
character--that is the
goal of true education.
— Martin Luther King, Jr
"Without the awakening
of divine consciousness
within the individual,
there is no use of crying
for world peace."
- Srila Prabhupada
VEDIC BOOKLET | Issue # 3
which, "the world is
at your finger-tips",
as some ads put it.
Yet statistics expose
the twentieth century
as the most violent
century in known human
history. The book
“Ending Violent
Conflict” by Michael
Renner states that
three times more
people died in wars in
of the twentieth
century than in the
entire history of
warfare between A.D. 1
and 1899.
Therefore, the
question begs itself:
where has modern
society gone wrong?
Despite extensive
attempts at mass
education, why has the
advancement of
knowledge not made
people peaceful?
Illiteracy can no
longer be considered a
reason since the best
schools in the world
have also witnessed
violence in the last
decade. The foundation
of American society
has been rocked by the
repeated massacres by
school children of
their own peers and
teachers for no good
reason whatsoever. In
many schools, metal
detectors now screen
every child before he
enters 'the modern
temple of learning'.
“Immorality
Originates In
Spiritual
Bankruptcy”
The Vedic texts, a
vast body of profound
knowledge coming down
from ancient India,
provide thought-
provoking insights
into this sorry state
of affairs. In the
Vedic paradigm,
knowledge is exalted
for its
transformational
power. "What you know"
is not considered as
important as '"What is
the effect on you of
what you know". In
marked contrast,
modern education
swamps students with
information, but sadly
the information brings
hardly any
transformation in the
students. It scarcely
leads to the
strengthening of
character; many of the
students indulge in
self-destructive
habits like smoking,
alcoholism and drug
abuse; and even the
best of them consider
earning maximum money
as their most
important value.
"Information,
information,
information, but no
transformation" is the
plight of the modern
educational system.
Of course, many
curricula worldwide
do have some sort
of value education,
but that value
education mostly
serves a cosmetic
purpose; it is
ineffectual in
actually building
the character of
the students. The
Vedic texts assert
unequivocally that
morality has to be
founded on
spirituality;
otherwise it soon
becomes a mere lip-
service.
Unless one has
an understanding of
God and His laws,
the call to ethics
has little weight.
After all, what is
there in an
atheist's worldview
to impel him to
stick to morality,
especially if he
thinks that the
primary goal of
life is the pursuit
of bodily pleasure
and that he can get
VEDIC BOOKLET | Issue # 4
away with whatever
he does, provided
he just does it
cleverly enough?
Further, if a
person doesn’t
understand his real
identity as an
eternal soul, if he
thinks that this
life is all that he
has for enjoyment,
what will stop him
from sacrificing
morality at the
altar of bodily
pleasure? "Beg,
borrow, steal,
kill, but enjoy" -
that will become
the motto of such a
spiritually
bankrupt person.
Service that
VEDIC would like to
offer to the
students --

bring out the
potential in
students like
Concentration,
Motivation, and
self-confidence.
• Weekly classes
to develop
personality and

students attain
clear focus in
their Academics.

students from self-
destructive habits
and addictions that

class of people of
high character and
