1. Assessment 2A
Travel and tourism are a huge industry, for the domestic
market and the international market. The presentation
on travel and tourism looked at themes of climate,
cultural traditions, main tourist attractions and cuisine.
It was interesting to delve into the depths of each
country visited. Learning how each country has so much
to offer, what attracts people from all over the world to
travel to immerse themselves in the country and
lifestyle.
The four countries (Australia, France, Italy and United
States of America) we researched as thoroughly as
possible to present credible information. All
information sourced on the themes showed that it met
with and we are confident that it meets with Metzger,
M.J. (2007). Making sense of credibility on the Web:
Models for evaluating online information and
recommendations for future research. Journal Of The
American Society For Information Science & Technology,
58(13), 2078-2091., there were citations and dates on
information, author identification, absence of
advertising, presence of privacy and security policies,
easy navigation, well organised sites, absence of
typographical errors and broken links.

3. Climate..
The climate within Italy can differ
dramatically due to the lengthy shape of
the country. Southern Italy experiences
the more dry heat in summer and mild
winters, this is due to it being closer to
the equator. Northern Italy can be
known for its harsh winters and cooler
summers and central Italy is a blend of
the two as it has less defined seasons
but in certain areas such as Rome
humidity can be common in the summer
season (Italia, n.d).
4. Mass Tourism..
Italy is renowned for the tourist
attractions they have to offer such as
the leaning tower of Pisa, the coliseum,
Vatican city and the romantic
attractions such as gondola rides in
Venice. Vatican City is the smallest
country in the world and not only a
tourist attraction for Italy but the
catholic religion as it is where the
largest church in the world is situated
as well as the tombs of former popes
of the catholic church (Italia, n.d).

• Music – Most commonly
Opera
• Crafts – Embroidery, lace

Opera and classical music are a big part of Italy’s
culture and history and opera especially is
something Italy is known worldwide for. As well as
this the Piano and violin were invented in Italy
which is another reason they play a big part within
it’s culture (Tablelands regional council
community program, 2011, p. 7).
6. Cuisine..
When eating traditionally in Italy it means you
eat local foods and seasonal foods, This means
that the cuisine can differ in areas of Italy.
They cook with what they have and this means
fresh and not imported foods. Their meals
generally begin with antipasto which is cured
meats and olives and then go onto a pasta, soup
or rice and a main of fish or meat (Thornley,
n.d).
8. Climate

climate in France can vary from west to east and especially
between the north and south of the Loire region.
• France enjoys mild temperatures throughout the year: not too
hot and not too cold, with a mix of rainfall and sunshine.
Naturally, each region has its own particular climate: cooler
and wetter to the north and west and warmer and drier in the
Mediterranean.

a baguette)
• Desserts – Crepes, Yoghurt and Ice cream

14. Climate
• The American climate differs depending of what part of the country you are in.
The western and southern parts experience warmer weather as compared to
the eastern and northern parts who deal with harsh winters with large
amounts of snow but the summers are very pleasant. The western and
southern parts have extremely hot summers and comparatively tolerable
winters. If you are planning to visit the US make sure you prepare well clothing
wise depending on the season and region you are visiting.
15. Cultural Traditions

• Also, over 10,000 people pass through
Grand Central Station per day without
actually intending to catch a train.
(Orcutt, 2012)
17. Cuisine
• America is strongly seen as a ‘salad bowl’ or ‘melting
pot’ when it comes to cuisine. Which means there
are a combination of a number of types of different
cultures influencing the different types of food.
• Foods that are classified as American foods are
hamburgers, hotdogs, potato chips and meat loaf.
• When it comes to American cuisine it can also be
broken into specific regions which then produce
different foods and also alternate styles of cooking.

24. Travel and Tourism is different but can also intertwine depending on the country
you are visiting. This is evident throughout this presentation with some countries
like Italy having their own unique history whereas Australia and America have
adopted a variety of cultures to make their own. Only four countries were
researched, each providing the reader with a snapshot of key information about
what makes each stand out from the rest and what each has to offer. It was
important that the information contained in the document is credible using
reliable sources having accurate statistics and meeting Metzger's ways of
evaluating online information such as displaying an author and having a particular
date and year. This all added value to the overall presentation.
