  4. 4. Naomi which means " or "my delight later asks to be called Mara means “bitter”.Elimelech husband of Naomi means “my god is king. Mahlon son of Naomi and Elimelech it means "sick“Chilion also a son of Naomi and Elimelech , it means weakening" or "pining"
  5. 5. Orpah wife of Chilion, meaning "mane" or "gazelle", is from the root for "nape" or "back of the neck“.Ruth wife of Mahlon, meaning "friend",pledges loyalty to NaomiBoaz second husband of Ruth "fleetness” or "strength is (in) him" or "he comes in strength"
  6. 6. Chapter OneRuth remains loyal to her mother-in-lawNaomi after the death of her husbandand father-in-law. Naomi decides toreturn to her home land of Bethlehemalone, however, Ruth insists on stayingand adopting Naomis God as her own." But Ruth said,

  9. 9. Chapter 3Chapter 3 Naomi encourages Ruth toseek marriage with Boaz ass a kinsman-redeemer. Ruth obeys Naomi and asks foeher rights and Boaz agrees but mentionsthat he must be sure that there are noothers with first rights.
  10. 10. Chapter 4Boaz and Ruth marry and have achild, thus insuring the continuationof the Davidic line that eventuallyleads to the birth of Jesus.
