This document describes a control display unit (CDU) that provides a drop-in replacement for current CRT-based displays. The CDU features a full-color LCD touchscreen for displaying radar and navigation data. It has standard interfaces like MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, Ethernet, and USB. Additional interfaces can be added via modules. The CDU is designed to be compact, lightweight, and customizable via software while maintaining high reliability in rugged military environments.

Control Display Unit
Designed as a drop-in replacement for current CRT-
based displays, this CDU provides a reduction in
weight and envelope size, increased reliability, and a
high degree of customization via software.
The CDU is designed to display radar and navigation
data on a full-color, ruggedized, active matrix LCD
(AMLCD) with LED backlight. An interactive touch-
screen facilitates pilot interaction with the CDU.
Standard interfaces include MIL-STD-1553, RS-422,
Ethernet, USB, and discretes. Additional interfaces
(ARINC-429) can be supported by adding PC-104/
PC-104+ modules. Video inputs (NTSC, RS-170,
DVI) and the ability to drive a second display are
also available.
Two compact flash slots are
provided for data storage.
Software-configurable
bezel buttons (20) are
backlit with full
dimming capability.
