Project Description:
EMP (Enterprise Mobility Platform). It is Verizon Wireless’s enterprise application platform for mobile devices. EMP
acts as an umbrella hosting platform for mobile applications used by Verizon Wireless, Wireline and other organization
employees in both stores and corporate offices. Its key features are mobility, single sign-on (SSO), and security at both
user and device levels. Mobile applications that run on top of EMP are either web applications or rich-client applications
(also called native applications). To clarify, while the EMP team owns the EMP hosting platform, the individual app
teams own the apps.
To use the different applications, users 1) install the EMP client application onto their mobile devices from the EMP Web
Portal or from Mobile Device Management (MDM) tool – Mobile Iron, 2) sign into the client, and 3) view and launch
application to which they have been authorized for access. EMP is supported on four mobile OS platforms – Android,
iOS, Windows Phone 8 (WP8), and BlackBerry 10 (BB10).
The My EMP Web Portal, often called the Portal, is the website where users download the EMP client and configure EMP
settings and applications.
We distinguish between the internal portal and external portal. The internal portal is only accessible from the company
Intranet. It contains all the administration tools such as application Onboard New App, Manage My Apps, Manage Role,
etc.
The external portal is a site which is accessible from the Internet. The purpose of the external portal is to download the
