2. PEREPHONE’S FAMILY
• Persephone had two sisters, Athena and
Aphrodite
• They were related to her through her dad Zeus
since he had so many different wives.
• Her mother is named Demeter.
• Her uncle which is her Husband, Hades.
3. Persephone’s life
Persephone, daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Demeter being goddess of harvest and
Zeus mighty god and possessor of lighting bolts. Persephone from the start of a young
age loved nature and was named goddess of spring growth, because when she was
around her mother was happy and made flowers grow. She had two sisters Athena and
Aphrodite which she loved to have “play dates” with. Sadly she could not see them very
often because they had different mothers, but the same father. One day when she was
in her teens, picking flowers with her friends, there was a giant hole in the earth and
none other than Hades, her own uncle came out. He captured her and took her to the
underworld to make her his queen. She was so young and beautiful that everyone
seemed to want her as there brides. When she was down there her mother mourned
and searched the earth looking for her dear daughter. So Demeter had Zeus go look for
her, once her had found her, it was to late, for it was too late. She had eaten A
pomegranate in the underworld so she had to stay there. Her dad made and agreement
with Hades though, she had to stay in the underworld with him for half of the year and
the other half on earth, with her mother. The legend says when she is with her mother,
she is happy and harvests all plant life. This means that it is Summer, and Spring. When
she is with Hades, her mother is sad so henceforth it is Fall, and Winter. This is the
theory of the seasons.
4. Help me escape!
Persephone always mourned to leave. She
claims that she felt trapped. Hades did his best to
try to make her happy, but the underworld did
not have much to offer for young Persephone.
Eventually she had to get used to it, in fact she
got a little too used to it. She became
overprotective of Hades and would not let him
talk to any other women. Persephone came as a
sweet young girl, but now people say she has
“two sides.” Her mom said “She will never be the
same little girl I’ve come to know and love.” -
