AND ACADEMIC ADJUSTMENT
According to Wantzel (1993), Cole, Dodge and
Kupersmidth (1990), Social development induces
competency in skills which help a student to
adjust to academic needs.
Coie and Krebheil (1984) also established
relationship between social development and
academic adjustment ,

Social development is a basic pre-requisite for a
successful life.
A socially developed student has purposeful life
ambitions.
Social development among students has an
effect on school environment.
KP has a history of social upheavals and it is
needed to be studied.

Whether social development affects the
academic adjustment of students?
Whether the teachers and students at
secondary level are aware of the indicators
and factors of social development and its
impact on academic adjustment?

11. METHOD AND MATERIAL
Population of the study was secondary schools
of public and private sector of KP.
Purposive random sample of 240 male and
female students of class 10th. From 8 schools of
two districts of KP i.e Peshawar and Nowshera.
Data collected with the help of a questionnaire
of 04 variables substantiated by 25 items of
five variables, SC, AA, AFA, TA and SES.
12. Variable SC refers to Self Concept, A A to
Academic Adjustment, AFA to Affective
Adjustment, T A to Total adjustment and SES to
Parents Socio Economic Status.
Pilot study was carried out to ascertain the
reliability of questionnaire
Lickert Scale with range of 1 to 5 was used to
record the extent of response.
Reliability , One sample T-test and Regression
test were applied to the data obtained.
13. DATA ANALYSIS
After insertion of Data, SPSS 24 was used to find results.
Reliability of data was ascertained which fell in range of .76 to
.81 which is acceptable to good.
One Sample T-test showed that that two tail significance of all
variable of interest was in the range of .000 which show high
significance.
Regression test was applied to the data. Showing that
AA = .027 + .422 SC + .369 AfA + .171 TA+ 1.056E- 006 SES

14. CONCLUSION
Interpretation of data shows a positive effect of
social development on academic adjustment.
Socially developed students show good results.
Socially developed students have least
disciplined problems.
It is suggested that social development of
students must be taken on priority not only in
curriculum but also be part of teachers training.
