Until the Athens Olympics 2004 in case of
a tied score the judges were to decide for
the winner by superiority
Since 2005 in case of a tied score a 4th
round is acquired and the first player to
score wins the match
In case no one scores the golden point
judges decide for the winner by decision of

the technical and tactical profiles of
TKD matches
Studies including data regarding the
“sudden death” round has not been
published yet
5. PURPOSE
The purpose of this study is to analyze
the techniques and tactics used during
the sudden death round in Taekwondo
matches
To compare the data obtained between
winners and non winners
6. AIM
The knowledge of potentials of certain
techniques and tactics for a positive
outcome of a match is of high
importance for coaches and athletes.

Kong et al. (2000) – FR is faster than BR and might be

percentage of offensive kicks
Kazemi et al. (2009) – females are 8 times more likely to
win by superiority and scored more with offensive kicks
