2. Dear Viewer, What you are about to see is a presentation based on themes represented in the story Tuesdays With Morrie. My goal is to portray the themes of laughter, love, experience, forgiveness, and acceptance. I want you, the viewer, to understand the importance of these themes so that you, along with me, can learn how to live. I don’t want you to live the rest of your life ignorant of the value of life. So, I’m going to teach you how to live in order to accept death. Sincerely, Kent Harris
4. “Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” - Morrie Schwartz
5. Well, you may be wondering… “How do I learn to live???” 1.Learn to LAUGH 2.Learn to LOVE 3.Learn to EXPERIENCE life 4.Learn to FORGIVE 5.Learn to ACCEPT life… and death
6. Learn to LAUGH… Don’t take life so seriously. Be more like baby Ethan. He’s able to laugh at the littlest things. “Laughter is the shock absorber that eases the blows of life.”
9. My Own MAD LIB Today I took a (verb) through the (noun) and played on the (noun). It was very (adj.) outside, so when I finished (verb ending in –ing) I went to the pool. Once I (verb ending in –ed), I (adverb) jumped in. Water went everywhere! My (article of clothing) came off and I was embarrassed in front of everybody! (Adverb) I gathered my belongings and never showed my (body part) at the pool again.
10. Why so serious??? We all have our moments when we take life WAAAAAAY too seriously. Why not enjoy life for what it is? Yeah, life is a journey, but who said the journey can’t be fun? Life has a sense of humor too!
11. Learn to LOVE… What is a life without love? Like I said before, life is a journey, and one of the purposes of this journey is to find love. Don’t live loveless. Have loveand compassion. But remember, you cannot love others without first loving yourself. “I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.” -Roy Croft
12. Ever since I was a baby, I have beensurrounded by love. MyFAMILYandFRIENDSall share a part in the love that I have in my life. There are times when I am not in the best mood, and I know that I can always count on them to brighten my day. I love all of my family, but if I had to choose, I must admit, my brother is my favorite. “Kid Bruvs”always knows how to make me laugh and I can never stay mad at him for more than a day. I am extremely thankful that I have such wonderful people in my life. Nile Harris A.K.AKid Bruvs
13. Love is not limited only to people. Love the worldin which you live and all that is in it. God blessed us with such a beautiful place, Why not love the Earth too?
14. Learn to EXPERIENCE life… Opportunities come and go. Why not take one? Life would be so much more interesting if you did. Next time someone asks you to do something, don’t come up with all the reasons why you can’t do it. Like Nike says…….. JUST DO IT. “Experience is the name every one gives to their mistakes.” -Oscar Wilde
15. 10 Things To Do Before You Die Send a message in a bottle Throw a HUGEparty Tell someone the story of your life Talk in an accentfor an entire day Buy lunch for a random person Tell 100 people a bad joke Donatea paycheck to a charity Create your own game Visit a random person in a nursing home Teachsomeone how to do something that you are good at.
16. Do something crazy! Don’t live in fear. Take chances and experience all that life has to offer. Always remember, life is short.
17. Learn to FORGIVE… Forgiveness is the key to happiness. Yes, sometimes it is hard to [suck up your pride] and forgive others, but it’s the right thing to do. Don’t stay bitter over minor things, it can only lead to an unhappy life. “If you haven’t forgiven yourself something, how can you forgive others?” - Dolores Huerta
18. Dear XXXXXX, Conflicting perspectives change everything. We used to be inseparable, that was a while back. Now we are all grown up, just about, and only speak to each other out of convenience. Who knew that 9 words could come between us? It’s silly, really. I call it SELFLESS, you call it SELFISH. I say I’m right, you say I’m wrong. We couldn’t see the BIG picture… or maybe we were looking at different pictures all along. Well, I’m sorry. Your Friend, Kent
19. Hug it out. No matter how many hurtful things you may have said or done, it is never to late to apologize. It only takes two simple words, “I’m Sorry.”
20. Learn to ACCEPTlife… and death This may be hard to understand, but you are going to die. We all are. It may sound harsh, but [death is a part of life.] Don’t get caught up in the fact that you are going to die, remember you are still alive! This is not to scare you, instead, to prepare you. It’s a reminder to live like you’re dying. “The goal of all life is death.” -Sigmond Freud
21. What’s it Like… Life (speaking to Death) What’s it like to die? Is it scary? Are there people everywhere? Does it ever get lonely? I wish I weren’t afraid to visit you. But I’ll wait a bit longer. I have some life left in me. Death (speaking to Life) What’s it like to live? It must be great, right? All those people everywhere. It has to be impossible to get lonely. I’d visit you if I could. Just wait a bit longer. You have some living left to do.
22. Self Reflection I really enjoyed working on the multi-genre project and learned a lot about myself while completing it. I made a deeper connection with and was able to broaden my perspectives of love, forgiveness, and life in general. I feel like I am more accepting of life and all of the struggles that I may face while overcoming certain situations. I liked that the entire project was based on my views and I was able to incorporate my artistic abilities. I didn’t find anything too difficult about the project, although I would have liked more time to work. The reason that I chose the genres that I did to convey my theme is because I felt that each genre was very personal to me. I used a bucket list to show some very simple things I can do to make my day a little more optimistic. I wrote a letter to a former friend of mine to show that I am not bitter about anything that has happened in the past. I believe that viewers of this presentation can relate very well to the genres that I chose to depict my theme.
