2. A summary consists of a recollection of everything that you read. After you read an article, essay, or short story you take out the important details and put them all together. An example of a summary would be reading the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and basically saying the story is about a little boy that’s poor and ends up winning a once in a lifetime opportunity. He gets to go to a chocolate factory with his grandpa. Charlie continues to be himself, a respectful kid and the factory owner ends up leaving him the factory. This is just a basic fast summary that you would pretty much say in person not really a summary that you would type out to do a paper. For a paper summary you take out the main points in the story, maybe points from chapters and give a more detailed summary. Summary

A way to analyze a story is to ask questions and to explain details in a story without retelling the story. As soon as you start to re tell the story it’s almost like a summary. I had to do an essay on a book when I took this class in high school that was supposed to be an analysis of the story. I ended up turning it into a huge summary because I couldn’t tell the difference between the two. Analysis
