Issues and Goals <ul><li>Our Issue is: </li></ul><ul><li>The worm bin is in the wrong place, the worms will die if we leave the worm bin on the courts. </li></ul><ul><li>Our Goal is: </li></ul><ul><li>We need to put the worm bin in a safe place where people can still work on the worm farm. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Skills and Influences <ul><li>Skill we need: </li></ul><ul><li>Man power – to lift and carry. </li></ul><ul><li>Who will Influence the final decision: </li></ul><ul><li>Mrs Ghadiyar, Mr Davis, Mr Armstrong, Anetalia, Room 11. </li></ul>

Issues and Goals <ul><li>Our Issue is: </li></ul><ul><li>Access to worm bin and wee. </li></ul><ul><li>Our Goals are: </li></ul><ul><li>Lift worm bin to make it easier to reach worm wee container and to make it mobile. </li></ul><ul><li>Educate classes about worm bin to make it sustainable (books, poems, solo maps). </li></ul>

Skills and Influences <ul><li>Skills we need: </li></ul><ul><li>We need Research skills – We researched other movable Worm bins and whether children supported our idea. </li></ul><ul><li>We need Design and Building skills – We researched structures that will allow movement of the worm bin. </li></ul><ul><li>Who will influence the final decision: </li></ul><ul><li>Children/teachers at O.P.S, Mrs Moodie, Mrs Stevenson and Mrs Field. </li></ul>

Information Gathering. <ul><li>What will we need to find out? </li></ul><ul><li>Research whether worms like being moved? </li></ul><ul><li>Research worm climates/environments. </li></ul><ul><li>Research how can to fundraise. </li></ul><ul><li>What we have done? </li></ul><ul><li>Designed a structure. </li></ul><ul><li>Distributed a questionaire to classes. </li></ul><ul><li>Analysed the questionaire. </li></ul><ul><li>Created a power point propsal for Mrs Moodie. </li></ul>
  9. 9. What we found out <ul><li>Majority of classes agreed with making the bin mobile to help them learn about it. </li></ul><ul><li>Worm bins can be moved around. </li></ul><ul><li>Build a bbq like structure to make it mobile. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Next steps… <ul><li>Make OPS worm bin easier to access by- </li></ul><ul><li>Making a frame to put it on so that it is off the ground. </li></ul><ul><li>Put a shelf under the bin to make it easier to collect worm wee. </li></ul><ul><li>Add wheels to help move it around the school. </li></ul><ul><li>Fundraise money for the project (Sausage sizzle and sell worm wee). </li></ul>
  11. 11. Do we need it? <ul><li>YES!!!! </li></ul><ul><li>Classes can look after it to gain ownership. </li></ul><ul><li>Helps develop Empathy/ Responsibility skills </li></ul><ul><li>Helps develop Co-operation skills </li></ul><ul><li>Develops relationships skills </li></ul>
