University of Dallas, School of Ministry 2010 Commencement Ceremony
Bishop Kevin W. Vann, J.C.D., D.D., of the Diocese of Fort. Worth to Deliver Commencement Address
School of Ministry to celebrate new academic milestones
IRVING, TX (May 14, 2010) – The University of Dallas School of Ministry is pleased to announce
it will host its 2010 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 15th at the Edward R. Maher
Athletic Center. Bishop Kevin W. Vann, J.C.D., D.D., of the Diocese of Fort Worth will serve as
commencement speaker, addressing a graduating class of 101 students with more than 400 family,
friends and faculty in the audience.

101 certificates of advanced biblical studies will be awarded during the 2010 Commencement
ceremony during which the School of Ministry will achieve three new milestones:
24 students will receive certificates through the University’s internet-based distance learning
Catholic Biblical School four-year program. Graduates and their families will travel from
across the country, from Missouri to California, to attend the ceremony.
53 students will graduate from the School of Ministry Catholic Biblical School - Spanish
module. The four-year course of study is offered entirely in Spanish including curriculum,
lectures, and course work.
7 students will graduate from the Adult Faith Formation program that includes 32 college
level courses. These courses are a comprehensive approach to lifelong, continuing adult
education with respect to the Catholic faith. This program is provided by the School of
Ministry for the Diocese of Dallas and Fort Worth.
Commencement will be immediately followed by a reception for graduates, their families and
friends. Guests will enjoy a festive ambiance complete with food, fun, and a live mariachi band.
“Graduation is an exciting time in the lives of our students and their families.” stated Dr. Brian
Schmisek, Dean of the School of Ministry. “This event marks the culmination of years of study and
sacrifice, as well as a defining point for spiritual growth. We are proud of our graduates and their
achievements.”
