Tuberculosis is considered a social disease that is influenced by various social factors. It is often associated with stigma. Social factors that can increase the risk of tuberculosis transmission include poor living conditions like overcrowding and substandard housing, large family sizes, low socioeconomic status, and lack of education. Ignorance of the causes of tuberculosis can also promote its spread as people may conceal their disease out of fear of social stigma and not seek treatment.
