1. Character list:
As a group, we have taken out several auditions in order to decide who will be part of our
music video. As part of our narrative, we needed a teenage girl to be the main character,
with the skills of dancing ballet as well as acting professionally.
Main Character- Yasmine Leblebici
Our main character who we have chosen to act in our music video is a 17 year old girl
named Yasmine Leblebici. Due to the fact that she is under age, we sent a formal letter of
consent to her mother in order for her to sign it. Throughout our music video, there will be
shots of Yasmine auditioning for a ballet show, as well as shots of what her life is really like,
depicting to the audience her drug and alcohol abuse. In the scenes in the dance studio,
Yasmine will be wearing a purple ballet outfit and ballet shoes (pointe) which is vital to carry
out the dances. After auditioning several ballerina’s, we thought that Yasmine was the most
professional and appropriate for the music video as we feel that our target audience would
be able to familiarise themselves with her. She has long brunet hair which will be tied up to
emphasise on the fact that she is a ballerina.
However, in the other scenes where she will be consuming drugs, she will be dressed in a
trashy outfit to highlight her feelings and the state of her. In addition, her hair will be messy
and we will do her makeup in a messy way to emphasise on the fact that she will be crying,
as well as the fact that she is messed up due to the drugs.
Character 2- Emmanuel Kelly
Emmanuel Kelly is a member of a group and helped us out by acting in our music video as a
judge for Yasmines audition. By doing so, we was able to save much more time as we
focused more on directing the music video as a group rather than auditioning and casting
actors for such a small role. The audience will not be able to see Emmanuel’s face in this
music video as we wanted to add a sense of mystery within the music video. By doing so, we
are highlighting the fact that although Yasmine is dancing in front of him, he is blurry to her
due to the use of drugs. Emmanuel will be wearing black formal trousers and a checkered
shirt which is a common outfit for a judge in a talent show to wear.
Character 3 – Karolina
Karolina will act out a small part in our music video in which she will be portrayed as a
‘mean girl’ that is competing against the protagonist, Yasmine. Karolina has long blond hair,
slimfigure and is dressed in ripped jeans with a lot of makeup. The reason for this is to make
her seemlike a quintessential teenager that is represented within many music videos.
