Most people celebrate Christmas for some reasons. But does celebrating it would really honor Jesus Christ?

2. WHEN WAS JESUS CHRIST BORN?
• The possible birth of Jesus Christ can be traced
based on the period of conception and birth of
John the Baptist.
• Elizabeth, John’s mother was in her sixth month
of pregnancy when Jesus was conceived (read
Luke 1:24-36)

7. WHEN WAS JESUS CHRIST BORN?
• John’s father, Zacharias, was a priest serving in the
Jerusalem temple during the course of Abijah (Luke
1:5). Historical calculations indicate this course of
service corresponded to June 13-19 in that year (The
Companion Bible,1974,Appendix 179,p.200).
• It was during this time of temple service that
Zacharias learned that he and his wife, Elizabeth,
would have a child (Luke 1:8-24).

9. WHEN WAS JESUS CHRIST BORN?
• Assuming John’s conception took place near the end
of June, adding nine months brings us to the end of
March as the most likely time for John’s birth.
• Adding another six months (the difference in ages
between John and Jesus) brings us to the end of
September as the likely time of Jesus’ birth.

11. DO WE NEED TO CELEBRATE JESUS
BIRTHDAY ON SEPTEMBER?
•NO.The Bible nowhere tells us to observe a holiday
celebrating Jesus Christ’s birth —but it clearly does
tell us to commemorate His death. (1 Corinthians
11:23-28)
•But it’s surprising that on September 2018, we in the
Church observed the Day of Atonement (Sept. 19) &
Feast of Tabernacles (Sept. 24-30).

12. •Yes, the Bible does give us quite a few details of
Jesus birth—the angelic appearance to Mary and
then Joseph, the conditions surrounding His birth in
Bethlehem. But nowhere in the Bible is there any
record of anyone observing Christmas or any hint
that God the Father or Jesus Christ expects us to do
so.

13. •Christmas is nowhere mentioned in the Bible.This is
rather obvious, but most people never give it a
second thought.
•The books of the New Testament cover 30+ years of
Jesus Christ’s life, then another 30+ years of the
early Church following His death and resurrection,
but nowhere do we find any hint of a Christmas
celebration.Writers of the New Testament who were
disciples of Jesus must reveal it in their writings.

14. ARGUMENT #1: But even though the
exact date of Jesus Christ's birthday is
unknown, should we not select some
date to celebrate His birthday?
•NO. In his booklet "The Plain Truth About
Christmas” (1974) page 2 & 15, Herbert W.
Armstrong cited the Catholic Encyclopedia (1911
edition) that states "Sinners alone, not saints,
celebrate birthdays."

15. • In the Bible, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or
held a great banquet on his birthday but unbelievers
like Pharaoh (Genesis 40:20-22) and Herod (Matthew
14:6-11; Mark 6:21-28). Both of them decided to murder
a man during their birthday.

16. CHRISTMAS IS A PAGAN WORSHIP
•Most scholars believe that Christmas originated in
the 4th century as a Christian substitute for pagan
celebrations of the winter solstice. Before the
introduction of Christmas, each year beginning on
December 17 Romans honored Saturn, the ancient
god of agriculture, in a festival called Saturnalia.
This festival lasted for seven days and included the
winter solstice, which usually occurred around
December 25 on the ancient Julian calendar.

17. CHRISTMAS IS A PAGAN WORSHIP
•The Roman Catholic Church chose December 25 as
the day for the Feast of the Nativity in order to give
Christian meaning to existing pagan rituals. The
Catholic Church hoped to draw pagans into its
religion by allowing them to continue their
revelry while simultaneously honoring the
birthday of Jesus.

Christmas started by the
Babylonian of ancient Nimrod
who built the tower of Babel,
the original Babylon, ancient
Nineveh, and many cities,
Nimrod, in Hebrew is derived
from "Marad", meaning "he
rebelled". He organized this

claimed, Nimrod would visit the
evergreen tree and leave gifts upon it.
December 25th was the birthday of
Nimrod.This is the real origin of the
Christmas tree.

25. ARGUMENT #2: Even though Christmas
was a pagan custom, honoring the false
sun-god, we don't observed it to honor
the false god, we observed it to honor
Christ.
•God plainly said in His instruction to us that He will
not accept that kind of worship even though
intended in His honor. (read Deuteronomy 12:30-31)

•Bible says God will not accept worship when people
take a pagan custom or manner of worship and try to

1. It is a vain worship, pagan doctrines and the
commandments of men (Matthew 15:7-9)
2. It is abomination to the Lord our God.True
Christian must not worship the Lord our God in
that way (Deuteronomy 12:30-31)
3. It replaced the true glory of powerful GOD
(read Romans 1:21-25)

So stay away from observing that pagan
celebration that makes us unclean to GOD.
Let’s strive to become blameless and
delightful in the eyes of God, celebrating the
true Holy Days of God!
