5. In today's fast-paced business world,
companies must continually keep
pace with change… change in the
marketplace, change with competitors
and change in technology.
SOLUTION?
6. What is SAP?
SAP, started in 1972 by five former IBM employees in
Mannheim, Germany. SAP is the world's largest interenterprise software company and the world's fourth
largest independent software supplier, overall.
The original name for SAP was German: Systeme,
Anwendungen und Produkte, German for "Systems
Applications and Products." The original SAP idea
was to provide customers with the ability to interact
with a common corporate database for a
comprehensive range of applications.
7. What is SAP?
SAP is a market and technology leader in client/server
enterprise application software, providing
comprehensive solutions for companies of all sizes
and all industry sectors. SAP enables users to
continually improve upon best business practices by
empowering people to respond quickly and decisively
to dynamic market conditions, helping businesses
achieve and maintain a competitive advantage.
8. What is SAP?
SAP constitutes a radical shift from traditional
fragmented business computer systems. In the
past, each business unit or department might have
maintained their own separate computer systems
which were often incompatible with others in the
company. As a result, the prospect of synchronizing
processes, sharing information, and communicating
results was inefficient at best and often impossible to
achieve. Furthermore, resources were wasted on
redundant activities.
9. Mission:
The mission of SAP University Alliances Program is to
facilitate the integration of Enterprise Resource
Planning (ERP) concepts into and across functional
areas of the School’s curriculum and programs of
study.
The goal is to use SAP technology as a “tool” to help
teach business concepts.
Instead of studying “cold” textbook exercises at the
end of a given textbook chapter, students directly
interact with a “real” business executing “real”
functions and transactions in a “life like” business-tobusiness simulation.
