The kite surfers were able to find invisible wind currents offshore that allowed them to skillfully glide across the bay, reminiscent of Jesus' discussion with a religious ruler about how one can see the power of God's hidden kingdom through its effects, like the invisible wind that can be seen through its impact, foreshadowing the coming eternal kingdom of Christ.

Stopping on the beach at the end of my street on a hot summer
afternoon in mid February,
I smiled at the sight of the kite surfers skimming across the bay,
revelling in the invisible wind currents.
I didn’t even notice the breeze but they were finding it offshore.
It brought to mind the following verses;

3. The context in John 3 is Jesus explaining to a
religious ruler
what people have to do to see the Kingdom of
God – His Kingdom.
As yet, the Kingdom is hidden.
But it's power can be seen.
The King will come.
And of his Kingdom there will be no end.
(Luke 1:33)

4. He will come from the right hand of power
in great glory.
Those who wait for His coming, shall renew their strength,
and rise on wings as eagles.

5. Although the Kingdom is hidden right now,
it's invisible force can be seen
– just like the wind.
