The document provides principles and guidelines for conducting effective Bible studies and gaining decisions for Christ. It emphasizes being filled with the Holy Spirit, never thinking of failure, focusing on those who are responsive, making witnessing the top priority, being direct but kind, using abundant Scripture, and securing a commitment to follow Christ. Common mistakes to avoid include presenting too much information too soon, an overreliance on proof texts, discussing unclear topics, allowing studies to become social visits, alone time with those of the opposite sex, and missing scheduled studies.

Good Morning Church and Welcome to the second topic of our training seminar.
This presentation will be in three parts: Principles in Conducting Bible Study, Principles for gaining decision and Common Mistakes. Foremost, let us learn the principles for Conducting Bible Studies. What are these?
A case in point is Stephen the deacon. He was full of faith and the Holy Spirit (Acts 6:5, 8). The hearers were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. v. 10.
Do we want success in whatever we undertake for the Lord? Yes! What must we have?
In order to succeed in his work, we must have the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. But how can we have this? (Let the audience respond)… WE ONLY HAVE THIS AS WE SPEND TIME IN STUDYING THE SCRIPTURES AND COMMUNING WITH GOD. ONLY THEN CAN WE WITNESS IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. We have no place in proclaiming the word of God until we have first been anointed by the Spirit of God.
So…
Be optimistic. Never think or talk of failure. God is responsible for the results when we do our best. Think that on the cross our Lord Jesus has already won the war with Satan in the Great Controversy. When witnessing we are on the winning side. With Jesus, we have already won in the war. Though at times witnessing may seem a battle, we have won. WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE AS LONG AS WE STAY CONNECTED TO OUR MASTER.
Conjecture – to form opinions. WE ARE WORKING WITH THE ONE WHO KNOWS NO FAILURE! And Don’t you grieve the Lord by doubting His power.
Do not be discouraged, either, if some who begin the lessons choose not to continue. Persevere in personal witnessing and God will richly bless you.
Not all will respond to the spiritual invitations that come their way. But as the Holy Spirit continues to work in their lives, they may be more open to such invitations at a later time.
Discouragements in soul-winning are often brought about by failing to recognize green fruits. A well-known Adventist Evangelist of a decade gone by used to say, "No use tugging in vain on green fruit. Give it more time. God has plenty of other fruit that's already ripe."
What are the indicators of the green fruit?...
After recognizing the reality of facing green fruits… our 4th Principle in Conducting Bible Study would be…
Often much time is spent with people who love your company but have no desire to grow and make decisions. These are keeping you from the billions to be reached with the message. There is a world (Revelation 14:6). When a person continues to have no regard for the message it is clear that one should move on to find the more receptive (Hosea 4:17; Matthew 10:14).
Matthew 10:14 says. “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.” Many, even including unbelievers, abominable, murderers, prostitutes, liars, idolaters, etc., will respond when given the opportunity.
True, we must persevere, but constant connection with the Holy Spirit will provide discernment as to who is sincere and who is insincere, and as to how much time to spend in one place.
This Holy Spirit’s connection will prevent you from not wasting time with those who are "Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Tim. 3:7), or who are not responding to that knowledge. The Holy Spirit will help you decide when it is that. "Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone" Hosea 4:17.
Now, we should learn how to recognize a ripe fruit or a good interest.
These are indicators of the ripe fruit…
So, we must focus on the responsive… and our last Conducting Bible Study Principle is (CLICK!)
“Do not stop to greet anyone on your journey” Luke 10:4. HE WAS TELLING THEM TO NOT GET INVOLVED IN OTHER THINGS THAT WOULD DISTRACT FROM THERE URGENT MISSION. So we must make your witnessing first priority. Don’t be distracted with anything. YOUR BIBLE STUDENT IS YOUR FIRST PRIORITY.
Jesus was in the world but not of the world. We must be constantly anchored in Christ the Rock so we can safely reach out into the world to draw others to Him. "The ship does not sink when it is launched into the water; it sinks when the water gets into the ship"... Your ability to rescue people "declines in direct proportion to how much the world invades you.”
So, our 5th Principle is Make Witnessing A First Priority – Don’t be Distracted
Let us review what we learned so far…
Let us consider the principles for gaining principles…
Remember that Jesus was always courteous. He never spoke an unkind word. Every morning He was given the tongue of the learned (Isaiah 50:4).
Jesus met the arguments of the Pharisees, and the temptations of the devil, by quoting from the Word of God. To every fresh challenge, He could reply, “it is written.” And we will find our strength where the Saviour found His.

Let them know three things: 1. A personal decision for Christ is necessary. 2. Christ is standing at the door of their hearts, waiting to come in. 3. He will enter their lives if they will invite Him in to be their personal Saviour and Lord.
Your concentration is not on what you say, but on getting the other person and the Lord together. You are concerned on where they ought to be. Emphasize a Personal Saviour, that they will desire not only salvation but a new changed way of life in Him.
