  1. This limits the skin’s ability to absorb nutrients, which accelerates wrinkling and aging. Antioxidants, such as those found in fresh vegetables and fruit like organic blueberries, can help to fight free-radical damage and will naturally promote healthy, young-looking skin. A diet with plenty of vegetables will also provide plenty of micronutrients and antioxidants.
  2. Spring water or filtered tap water may be better sources. Mineral waters may contain undesirable elements or contaminants; distilled water may be too acidic. Insufficient water intake degrades the function of all body tissues.
  3. Bad diets accelerate aging from the inside out. They can provide too many or too few calories, contributing to yoyo weight fluctuations which damage the skin’s elasticity. Nutrient imbalances can also result, leading to impaired metabolism, and illnesses like osteoporosis and anemia, to name just two.
  4. You can use virgin coconut oil as a replacement for high-priced cosmetic lotions. The oil will help to keep your skin supple and moisturized; the anti-oxidants that it contains will help fight free radical damage from excessive sun and other exposures.

In general, this means choosing foods that have a low “glycemic load”, but because people vary in their ability to handle foods like carbohydrates, it’s also important to eat according to your metabolic type. Vegetables and fruits provide antioxidants. Resveratrol, which is thought by some to be an anti-aging compound, is highest in grapes (skins and seeds), raspberries, mulberries, and peanuts.
