2. ADVANTAGES
Receiving feedback, particularly from members of my target audience,
allowed me to gain an insight into their own expectations of media
products and how my own products compared to them.
By gaining feedback, I was able to adjust and improve my products in order
to relate more to my target audience, as well as to better conform to the
codes and conventions of the horror thriller genre, as well as to the
forms of each of my products.
3. MY TARGET AUDIENCE
• BBFC Rating – 15
• This depicts my target audience as being aged 15 and upwards which is
typical in real horror thriller films. My casting choices was suitable (two
girls aged 13 and 17), as the use of (young) teenagers formulated a
rapport with the target audience as they could relate to the protagonist
in my film.
• Primary target audience – females
• Secondary target audience - males
4. Throughout my process I conducted a range of feedback based on my film
trailer and two ancillary products. Methods include:
• Verbal Feedback
• iMessage
• Video of Target Audience Member reacting to/giving Feedback to my
film trailer
• Survey Monkey surveys
5. CONSTRUCTION OF A SURVEY
I created two online surveys using Survey Monkey; one for my final film
trailer feedback and the other for my ancillary products. Survey Monkey
was useful as it allowed me to form my own questions and provide a
variety of response methods, such as multiple choice for ‘Yes’ or ‘No’
answers or comment boxes for the expansion of my audiences ideas.
Survey Monkey is a free online platform which was therefore easily
accessible and allowed me to embed my survey onto my blog for a
group of people within my target audience to access and take.
6. COLLECTING RESULTS
My results on Survey Monkey were easy to analyse as the website provided
me with them; Survey Monkey displayed them as graphs for a collective
result, although I was also able to analyse the results of each
respondent.
I was able to make each survey anonymous in order for the participants to
feel inclined to be more honest when answering the questions. This was
useful as I was able to gain reliable results, yet was unable to know the
demographics (age/gender of individual and what they liked/did not like
about my products)
