1. Since the beginning of the media course, I have learnt a lot in the
technical areas. From using Adobe Premier I have developed my
editing skills tremendously, through editing our thriller from pressing
the ‘C’ button on the key board to cut a clip and then ‘V’ to
select a clip, I have learnt how to download music and different
effects from the left hand side and then drag them in to the
appropriate areas where needed. Also I discovered to get the
best possible result I needed to be very precise in the exact
seconds of the clips, so I zoomed in to view the mille seconds and
edit it as smoothly as I could.
2. We managed the equipment well, as a group we organised how to
take the equipment home, harry took the equipment with the help of
his mother to come and collect it so we knew it would be safe in a
car, we didn’t want to risk taking it on public transport, (this was one of
our risk assessments). We managed our resources and location well
too, we really made the most of our location, as we used quite a
unusual location we knew in order for it to reach its full potential we had
to make it really believable. As our thriller went smoothly and to plan
and took quicker than we thought we reached our deadline in finishing
the product, however the issue we came across was managing the
editing as there were limited computers, we had to share the times
which limited the time we could get it done in, however we got it
finished efficiently.

and deadlines…
3. The sections I filmed and edited included, the three person shot at
the beginning when they are all having a conversation, the over the
shoulder the shot where one of the antagonist is holding
‘Christopher’ over the edge of the pool. With the editing I made sure
everything was very sharp, with constant continuity editing all the
way through, for the highest quality and the best possible
outcome, we all as a group contributed taking careful time making
sure each clip, lasted for long or short enough time to really get the
thrill effect. One particular shot I believed edited well was the
dunking the head in the pool and over the shoulder shot of one of
the antagonist repeating ‘where’s the money?’, during filming we
captured at least a minute of footage of just those words and
‘Christopher’ being repeatedly dunked into the water, we edited it
just to around 15 seconds to really capture the thrill and keep the
audience to feel the tension and not let there mind wonder, by not
keeping it too long for them to get bored and uninterested. I believe
our efforts of filming and editing were thought through successfully
and handled well and this is shown in our final product.

4. To make sure we didn’t run into any problems
within the health and safety aspect we made a
risk assessment before the filming, stating the
possible risks that could happen and the ways
we would avoid and prevent them. We solved
the problem of the equipment getting damaged
by having someone come and pick it up from
school so it could be transported safely, and it
was kept inside one of our houses at all
times, never left in a car or in view for someone
to try and steal it. We made sure to keep a fair
distance from the pool as we didn’t want the
equipment getting damaged.

5. To create our thriller would not have been
able, let alone successful, without the use of the
digital technology. It helped us to be creative as
we were able to adjust and alter each scene as
we pleased. The technology we used during our
research stages were clips online from
YouTube, researching film company logos such
as Lionsgate and twisted pictures. We
researched on Google and Wikipedia different
film production companies that would be
potential companies to invest In our thriller.
