Hello Cam. This year’s been a bit of alright for you, hasn’t it?
Yeah man it’s been a good year so far. I can’t really complain. Everything is happening so
fast!
Do you see that as more of like a lucky break or is it something that’s been a long
time coming?
I’ve had a couple of breaks, and I have definitely worked my ass off, but I don’t really
believe in luck. I think everything happens for a reason, and it’s all down to
circumstance and what position you put yourself in. I’ve managed to remain pretty
grounded by surrounding myself with friends and family through all this sudden
change.
How did it feel knowing that your first major gig was a set at Glastonbury and was
being aired to millions of viewers worldwide?
OH MY GOD! Tell me about it. My phone was off so I wasn’t even aware of its airplay on
the BBC until the Monday after the weekend, but it was very, very cool. I could do it
everyday for the rest of my life, the crowd was amazing.
I’d never been to Glastonbury before I played there, and I got told to expect about seven
festivals glued into one, with lots of mud and good music. That’s pretty much what I got.
It looked like the ladies were loving your gig, especially the screaming girls at the
front...
Come on, you know what its like in the music industry; everyone has there lil’ groupies. But I
can assure you, I’m happy as I am. Sorry girlies. *Cameron says whilst cheekily grinning*
Anyway, on top of all the screaming fans, your debut single dropped in at number
three in the charts this week...
Yeah man, that all went really well. I’m incredibly happy with how it did, but we’re kind
of onto the next single now, and we’re shooting the video for that. You know, onwards
and upwards.
Sounds like you haven’t really got time to stop and celebrate your successes, as
you’re always mega busy. Is that the case?
Pretty much. I’m gonna stop and enjoy it when there’s a lot to celebrate rather than just
one thing. I think a number one or a platinum-selling album would be something to
celebrate. We’ll have to see how my album gets on in September.
We believe you used to sleep on various peoples sofas, surely this is a thing of the
past now?
Nope, I’m still sofa-surfing. I’ve slept at lots of weird places. Yesterday I slept at the
rehearsal studios I was at and used a cardboard box as a pillow. That was quite
interesting. I’m sleeping on my manager’s sofa tonight.
Really?
Yeah! I’m gonna save up and get a place instead of somewhere temporary. I want to get
somewhere permanent. You don’t make millions straight away from just from having a top-
three single. I’m still the Cameron I used to be.
2. So that’s it guy’s. Cameron Worsley is still the same old Cam from Manchester that
he used to be! We look forward to seeing what the future holds for him.
