This document summarizes efforts to develop the Kentucky River Water Trail in Pool 11. Volunteers completed river surveys in 2012 to identify access points, unique natural and historical features, and safety issues. Stakeholders like the Kentucky River Authority and National Park Service provided support through grants and technical assistance to improve recreational access, water quality awareness, and educate the public about endangered species and dam dangers. A new boat ramp site was selected with assistance from an NPS grant and a launch event was planned for October 2012 to celebrate being recognized as a Great Outdoors Initiative Project.
