2. It’s to take a position on a controversial issue and
to convince the reader that you theory or idea on
the subject is more valid and convincing than
another; in essence, is to persuade other with your
point of view, arguing with facts to back it up.
4. Example: USE OF PHONES IN SCHOOLS
The use or not of cell phones in schools is a constant debate. No doubt it
is always important that children have a way to communicate with their
parents, especially in an emergency. However, that is also used to fall into
what is known as an abuse of these phones. Currently, the phones are a
rich and powerful entertainment device, not just communication. And
obviously, can become a strong element of distraction in schools.
Considering a complete ban of cell, indeed, it would be really difficult to
implement because it seems rather to be an arbitrary measure that
restricts a fundamental right. What to do then? As prevent the phone from
being a distraction from learning? There is no single answer, but rather,
possible solutions. First and most important is to introduce clear rules
about how mobile can and should be used by students while in their
schools, and particularly in class. Another way to make better use it, try to
turn the phone into a learning tool. In an article in the Daily Bugle, one
teacher says "I encourage children to use the phone for what it is: “A
microcomputer”
The teacher encourages students to use their phones in class, through
special applications relevant to the subject. It is a clear example that, in
principle, half that for many is considered a distraction, indeed, if it is used
in the right way, it can be very important in the schooling process.
