Editor's Notes
Life repeats itself no matter what it is; war, weather or wealth or lack of it. This means that something bad will happen again at some point in time, maybe during your life time, maybe not.
You do not want to have your head in the sand!
So ask yourself, have you done everything you can to prepare for the worst?
In Minnesota during 2007 and 2008 we have seen devastating tornados, huge fires, tremendous floods and unexpected tragedies such as the Highway 35 bridge collapse.
Did you know that the most devastating tornado in the history of Minnesota leveled Sauk Rapids and killed 72 people? 1886
Three truths:
It does not have to happen to your business to affect your business.
“No man is an Island” which also translates to, no business exists by itself.
Your business exists because of “OTHERS” whether they be your employees, customers or suppliers. You may be the brains behind the business but you still need the “OTHERS” to stay in business.
You have the ability to increase your odds of staying open after the disaster, however, it does take some work.
If you do not have a plan this is most likely the sign that you will be putting in your window.
Or you can decide to put this sign up as quickly as possible.
Wal-Mart and one other relief agency were the ones to reopen the day after the hurricane hit, even the Red Cross had skipped town the day before.
How pre-prepared are you to open the doors the next day or within the next week.
THINK
What events threaten us on a yearly basis?
Think of all the things that can happen in the world today
and then think about how those events could affect your
business if they happened to you or one of your major
suppliers or customers.
What are some things you can do starting this week to prepare for your business survival?
Three Things To Do
Write down three things that you will do this week in order to better prepare your business to survive a disaster.
1.
2.
3.
As a business person this could be the most important promise you could make.
These could be your business employees.
Or these.
Or these.
Do yourself and them a favor, be prepared use the resources at your disposal, that includes me.
