2. INTRODUCTION
The only priest in his diocese to regularly offer the Catholic Mass
in the Extraordinary Form (Latin), Father (FR.) Jeffery “Jeff”
Fasching has been the spiritual leader of his Springfield, Missouri
parish since 2007. An involved member of the community of
Springfield and an avid runner, Rev. Father Jeff Fasching
participates in area races of varying lengths, including marathons,
half marathons, 10Ks, and 5Ks.
Springfield hosts the Bass Pro Conservation Marathon Weekend
each year in November. With several race formats offered, one
platform that allows for individuals with a range of fitness levels is
the Mercy Sunshine Marathon Relay. The relay format attracts
families, businesses, and other local organizations interested in
team building.
3. BASS PRO CONSERVATION MARATHON
Each relay team must consist of five members
collaboratively running or walking the distance of a
marathon (26.2 miles). The first and third team members
complete a distance of 6.2 miles (10K) each, the second
and fourth team members run/walk 3.1 miles (5K) each,
and the final member finishes the distance with 7.5 miles
(12K).
The course starts at Bass Pro Shops and finishes at the
White River Conference Center. Participants will run
alongside the famous Route 66, follow some lovely trails,
pass through residential areas, and jog by Missouri State
University during their 26.2-mile journey. For more
