And he better do it fast before he, Earth and everything on it are vaporized into oblivion.
Ms. Plum has a great classroom. It has two pets, a gerbil and a toad. The reading corner has all kind of comfortable places to curl up with a book. The most interesting part of the room is the supply closet. Interesting things happen to kids who go in the supply closet.
The only people who know about the closet are people who have had Ms. Plum as their teacher. No matter how much they try to talk about what happens in the supply closet, they can only say things like, “I took care of the toad.” and “We read good books.” Since you can’t have Ms. Plum as your teacher, the only way you can find out is to read the book.
Mallory starts the “Sisters Against Brothers Getting Dogs” club. She posts signs all over the house.
Mallory gets sent to her room to reconsider her attitude. Max gets a dog.

Gus has, more than once. Each move means going to a new school and making new friends. You also get a chance to, as Gus’s father puts it, “start over.”

But Gus has promised his father he will try to behave himself, and he would have too if he hadn’t seen the stray cat on his way to school. It was scawny and looked scared. He lured the cat out of the bushes and put a string around it’s neck so he could lead it to school. The panicked cat broke away and ran.
The next day Gus saw the cat again. This time it was trapped in a tree, with the string Gus had put around it’s neck making escape impossible. Gus climbed the tree and freed the cat, climbed down and carried the cat to school.
The bell was ringing as he ran into the building. He had to find a place to hid the cat fast. Luckily, Mr. Ryan, the school councilor, is going to be gone for two weeks. Gus stashes the cat in his office and heads to class.
Gus has two weeks to find a home for the cat. Two weeks to smuggle food to school and take care of the mess the cat is making in Mr. Ryan’s office. Two weeks to hope no one finds the cat.
Keena likes school. Especially when it is time to write in her journal. Her teacher lets them keep their journals private.
Keena writes in her journal a lot.
One day her brother gets in trouble at school. Her mother has to go talk to the principal. She makes Keena stay with the Harris. Keena doesn’t want to go, Tiffany Harris is the biggest pain in her class.
Mrs. Harris has Tiffany and Keena work on their homework in Tiffany’s bedroom. Keena writes in her journal while Tiffany spends the time bragging about her stuff. Keena is glad when her mother gets back. It is only later that night that she realizes she forgot her journal with all her private thoughts on Tiffany’s bed.
Tiffany won’t give it back. She says Keena has to do everything Tiffany wants…or Tiffany will tell everyone what Keena REALLY thinks about them.
Sara Barker is afraid of dogs. She is afraid of their sharp teeth. She is nervous of their loud barks. She doesn’t even like it when they lick or wag their tails.
If Sara sees a dog, she runs away as fast as she can. Sometimes she screams too. Her friends and family think she goes a bit owverboard, but Sara can’t help it. She is just afraid of dogs.
When the house next door is sold. Sara hopes there will be a girl her age to play with.
But only one old woman moves in with two very big dogs!

Celia is in trouble, again. This is the third time she has managed to lose a hamster. She and her older brothers and sister never could find either of the first two. Hammy was their last chance. That’s why Celia is so relieved when she finds the hamster. It’s the way she found him that’s weird. She heard a little voice coming from a suitcase yelling, “Let me out! Let me out!” Hammy can talk. Hammy doesn’t talk again until they try to put him back in the cage. Then he begs promising them one wish if they let him go. The only catch is, the wish has to be something a hamster would want. What, asks her brother Derek, “You mean like seeds?”
While the others argue, Celia thinks of a hamster wish and blurts it out, “I wish I was big!” And she is big, but she’s a hamster. Now they have to figure out how to get her back before their mother finds out.

Lucy Van Loon has a bit of a temper. She tries to be calm, but when people are unfair to her, especially Jacinta—teacher’s pet and class meanie, Lucy just blows up.. Before she knows it, she is screaming.
Lucy spends a lot of time in the corner, in the classroom time out chair. It isn’t fair. Jacinta is a total sneaky brat but she has 8 stars on the “Good Attitude Chart” while Lucy has only one. So, Lucy moves one to her line---and gets in trouble again.
Lucy has more problems. Her Great-Aunt Bep is coming all the way from Holland to stay with the family for a couple of months. She is going to live in Lucy’s room. Lucy is going to sleep on the air mattress on the floor.
Lucy and her little brother Calvin go with her father to the airport to pick up TanteBep. When Calvin has a bathroom emergency, Lucy’s dad tells her to wait right by the luggage caurasol till he gets back. (show picture pg. 20) Once he was out of sight, Lucy climbed on for a ride. It was fun, until she found herself heading for a huge hole in the wall. As she frantically crawled backwards, she yelled for help. A stranger pulled her off just in time. Before Lucy could say thank-you, the woman started yelling at her, calling her bad and criticizing her parents…the stranger was TanteBep.
When they get home, TanteBep tells Lucy that if she acts good between now and Christmas, Sinterklass, the Dutch Santa Claus, will bring her lots of chocolate…otherwise, he will stuff Lucy in a big sack and dump her in Spain.
Disguised as a human boy, the first officer has suffered much during his stay on Earth. The parental units have insisted he eat vegetables, take showers and spend many long hours locked up the education center. They also routinely deny him his preferred Julian has borne it all without complaint…until now.
Evilomami, also known as The Maternal Unit, is insisting he carry a bag of garbage to the shiny canister filled with human refuse. It is beyond the imits of civilized behavior.
